MountainKat | 31601 comments Hi Sass! Thank you for all the great picks for February! I didn't get nearly as many books read as I wanted this month and that includes out of my picks. I did finish three and I have two more queued up next - I should get close to finishing The Virgin Rule Book, but won't get Fatal Accusation started until tomorrow.

I also want to thank you for picking An Extraordinary Union. I remember you reading it for one of the challenges and I wanted to add it to my shelves, but never got it done. I didn't get it read, but it is on the 'shorter' list and will push it forward soon.

The Best Man Plan by Jaci Burton 2.11.2022
Between the Devil and Desire by Lorraine Heath 2.22.2022
The Rules of Friends with Benefits by Lauren Blakely 2.28.2022

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hi Sonja! Thanks again for the great picks this month.

I got to several but didn't get to all of them due to the Bachelor Team Challenge (which my team won!) but I've got them all on my list. I focused mainly on the NEW recommendations that you sent me. I was intrigued by them and am glad to say that I've discovered new authors and series this month!

Accidental Tryst (Charleston, #1) by Natasha Boyd Accidental Tryst - read 2/11/22 *4 STARS*
I thought this was cute. Emmy and Trystan had their issues but you knew it was inevitable that they would be together. I liked how they bonded before ever meeting but I thought we could do without all the we can't be together drama. But other than that I really liked it. And I'm such a sucker for a British accent, I just adored the male narrator's parts.

I'm looking forward to see what happens in this series.

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker The Simple Wild - read 2/22/22 *4.5 STARS*
I had no idea what to expect when you recommended this, but it was so good, I couldn't stop listening to it. The story was engrossing and was at times funny and other heart-breaking. Just like in real life. I felt for Calla and was hoping that she got everything she wanted in life. The ending was sweet but left too much open so I had to immediately go to the next book!

Wild at Heart (Wild, #2) by K.A. Tucker Wild at Heart - read 2/23/22 *4 STARS*
Ok so I know you didn't *technically recommend this one but since I read it right after reading the first one which you did recommend, I decided to include it here! I really fell in love with Jonah and Calla. This book really delved into the issues that come along with starting a life together, especially after being together for such a short period of time.

I felt for both of them as they tried to navigate their new relationship, a move, buying a house together, and making lives together. It was inevitable to me that things would be difficult.

I was nervous there for a bit, but glad that it all worked out, and can't wait to see more of them in the next one!

Managed (VIP, #2) by Kristen Callihan Managed - read 2/24/22 - *5 STARS*
Oh my goodness! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this one. First of all, I was cracking up like a loon for the first part of the book. Sophie and Gabriel on the plane together...comedy GOLD! I have not laughed like that at a book in a long time. How in the world the they not know they were destined to be together right there!

I was shocked by the revelations in the book. I couldn't believe that Sophie had sunk so low at one point in her career. I knew that at some point in it was going to bite her in the you-know-what, but man things crashed and burned quickly. A big part of that fell on Gabriel though with him not asking questions.

But, this was such a great book. I loved it. With the way that Gabriel got Sophie to help him sleep, to the way he took care of everyone while making it seem like he was just this stuck-up Brit. This was just so good.

The only issue I had was with Brenna. She was American with an American accent in the first book and in this one she was British. It was off-putting and I didn't like that break in continuity. I kept looking at my phone weirdly whenever she was speaking because of that.

Don't get me wrong the narrators did great accents, and I could listen to Rupert Channing read the phone book. I just notice things like that since I listen to audiobooks all the time.

Now on to the next book. I want to see what's going to happen with Jax!

Fall (VIP, #3) by Kristen Callihan Fall - read 2/24/22 - *4.5 STARS*
I know you didn't technically recommend this one but I read it right after the previous book in the series. So, I was expecting this one to be heavy. With everything that Jax went through, I knew there were going to be some hard issues addressed this one.
But, I wasn't expecting the laughter and the levity with watching Jax fall in love! The way that Jax and Stella met...hilarious. And Scottie with his son...too adorable. Really I just enjoyed this one from beginning to end. Even when Jax totally f*ed up with Stella, I felt it so deep down, I couldn't even be mad at him. Now there are only two boys left and I am feeling a bit sad. I can't wait to read the next book. But when the heck will Whip's be coming out?
Anyway, I've gotten off track, but seriously I love this series!

Wicked Intentions (Maiden Lane, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt Wicked Intentions - read 2/24/22 - *4 STARS*
This was hard to get into. I had to stick with it before I really started to enjoy it. And I felt like the whole darker side of Lord Caires and Temperance needed to be explored a bit more, but overall I enjoyed this one. I liked the suspense part of it with the murders and liked how strong Temperance was.

I will likely continue on with this series.

The Perils of Pleasure (Pennyroyal Green, #1) by Julie Anne Long The Perils of Pleasure - read 2/28/22 - *4 STARS* This was fun! I loved the back and forth between Colin and Madeleine, but I have to admit I was a bit annoyed with Colin being so blind to what he and Madeleine had and the pedestal that he put Louisa on. That was frustrating! I was glad he got himself together before it was too late. But Madeleine was acting crazy too! I wanted to strangle those two. LOL But it all worked out. I wasn't horribly fond of this narrator though.

Keeper (Harris Brothers, #3) by Amy Daws Keeper - read 2/28/22 - *4 STARS* OMG, This was adorable. I'm a sucker for the friends-to-lovers trope and this one didn't let me down. I absolutely adored Booker and Poppy. I could have had 100 of each of them (inside joke in the book). Anyway, I just loved these two together despite all the ups and downs and scheming, it worked out in the end. I can't wait to see how they progress in future books!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So now that I look at things, I didn't get quite a lot accomplished this month. Thanks again for the great picks, I look forward to reading the rest of the at some point soon!
Sass! This is awesome!!! LOVED reading your thoughts on the books you read and even more loved that you went on to the next in the series as well! I admit I had Exposed (VIP, #4) by Kristen Callihan already for this month, but just didn't get to it. That's Brenna and Rye's story. Mostly I just want to check up on the previous couples! (LOVED your thoughts on Jax's story too! I felt the exact same!
And I've been meaning to get to Forever Wild (The Simple Wild, #2.5) by K.A. Tucker as well. I really loved how the story continued with Calla and Jonah instead of starting new characters. Very domestic and real to me! Much as I love HEAs, sometimes what comes after is more believable!
Anyway, thank you so much for all your responses! It's refreshing to hear how my picks went over and it's fun to see someone else's take on the books! Hopefully you get to more of your TBR this month tho - and congrats on the Bachelor team win! :)
Hey Chris! Thank you again so much for all your picks! I've moved several to my TBR and am hoping to get to a couple in March. I managed 4 off your list (less than hoped, but more than none!)
[bookcover:The Naughty, The Nice and The Nanny|58958156], The Bookshop of Second Chances by Jackie Fraser , The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood , People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
Really enjoyed the Nanny! Was a surprise since normally short stories are hard for me to get into, but I really did enjoy it!
Definitely recommend Bookshop, really liked that one as well as Love Hypothesis! People We Meet was Ok, but I finished it so that's at least 3 stars for me! Hope you had a great month as well!
And thank you again!
