I'll read for the creature feature shelf. It has witches and demons in it.

Shelf 8: Reader's Choice

Review: This was so slooooow. I would have DNFed it if I hadn't had to use it in multiple challenges. Granted, neither Graceling or Fire were particularly captivating, but man this story just dragged. It was too complicated and I had a hard time following the plot or figuring out where it was going. Nobody told Bitterblue anything which was frustrating to read. Other than the opening and closing few chapters, this one was a chore.

Review: It's hard to review this book without giving away spoilers for the previous books. Just know that you should definitely read these in order as the characters and their relationships build and grow a lot over the course of the first 3 books. Now for this one. While I think this book had so much to offer (excitement, passion and crazy action) I think the way Raphael and Elena's relationship has blossomed is spectacular. Elena has matured into a fascinating character. In the first book I thought her attitude tended to be a bit crass and could have used a heavy dose of self perseverance. When a being can kill you 1001 ways with only a thought staying under their radar is a good idea. Elena has trouble doing this...or rather had trouble doing it. She's matured greatly. She is now able to rely on her Archangel for comfort, for a sounding board, for pleasure, for just about everything. It was nice to see her transformation and I think this is only the beginning. So because I'm so character driven it's no wonder that their relationship amazes me but I'd be remiss if I didn't add that Singh's world building is excellent. What a world she created with Angels and their Vampires. Yes I said that correctly. Angels make vampires. Interesting, right? The only thing that I was a bit confused by in this book was one of the oldest of the Cadre, Lijuan. (view spoiler)[She had some major changes happen to her in the last book and I was under the impression she no longer had a physical body but maybe I am confused (hide spoiler)] which is why this book didn't get a full 5 stars.

Sorry your book was a dud, Logan. I know the feeling of persevering with a disappointing book because it fits into several challenges :0(

Witch Fire by Anya Bast

Rating: 4 Stars

Review: I'd forgotten how much I love Anya Bast's writing. Her world building is excellent and her character have depth and intensity. My one small nitpick is that this book contains one of my most hated tropes - keeping secrets. At least it doesn't lead to my other detested trope, silly misunderstanding stemming from a lack of communication, so I'm willing to be forgiving :0)

thanks! I finished my creature feature book on 4/19 and give it five stars. I love this author!!! The world building was fantastic and the ending had me panting for more. The book was This book had angels, demons, minions and humans with super powers from being the last of their lines.

I have that one Nici...still haven't picked my Creature Feature other than I do have the next Gin Blanco book that I could read. Wasn't able to get back to my Abs of Steel book yet but hope to finish it soon.

New shelf~~Man's World
This one might stump me as I don't have very many books in the PNR/UF written by men or with a man lead. Will have to think on it.

The male POV needs to dominate the story if you don't want to read a book written by a bloke.

for the man shelf i will be reading which is both written by a man and has a male main character.

For reader's choice i am changing my selection to because i have misplaced my other book (which is a library book EEK) I give this book five stars, because I didn't want to put it down. When I began this series i felt a little lost, as though the world building wasn't up to par. At this point in the series however, I feel that all the wholes have been filled and it is building in a wonderful way. Can't wait to read the next one. Finished this book 4/28.

Waiting to start my Man's World shelf until I get my e-audio from Overdrive/library I should get it any day now as we only can have them 2 weeks and I've been on the list as patron 1 for 2 copies for 8 days. My S book is half way through and my abs of steel is still half way done . I originally picked for my creature feature but have the audio of that I can listen to right away (instead of me waiting until I finish 2 other ebooks I can use my computer time to listen to an audio instead) but was wondering if it will work. Can anyone who has read this book verify that there are more than vampires in it?

Loved Summer Knight, Christina. Its the book that got me hooked on Harry altogether :0)

If I remember correctly, also has ghosts and ghouls in it.

Good to hear about Summer Knight, Lauren, because so far they've been a bit *meh* for me. Well, I take that back, I actually enjoyed book 2 quite a bit and was disappointed that I didn't like book 3 better. Looking forward to book #4! Excellent on the Frost book. Surprisingly enough I'll probably finish the audio sooner than if I read the book myself. I'm just so behind that fitting in a couple audios seems a good way to catch up.

I almost quit Harry after book #3 but I was doing a buddy read of the series so I decided to give it one more chance. I'm so glad that I did.

Yes, audios are a good way to pick up the slack :0)

Review: While I can appreciate the idea of Chess being a broken and unusual heroine I struggled with her a lot. Chess is a drug addict. When not running into one life or death situation to another her main concern was getting drugs, paying for drugs and doing drugs. Frankly, this made a weak heroine and one that I had trouble relating to. She was not as kick ass as I'd like her to be. She was constantly being used and abused so to speak, but I guess this is the intrigue of Chess.

However, this wasn't a bad book. I thought the beginning was exciting and as Chess was solving the mystery behind Bumps airport and the Morton's house haunting, I found myself intrigued. I did think that after the initial opening the book can to an abrupt halt in action while Kane started to build her world. It wasn't until the mid-way mark things picked up again. I might have given it 4 stars if I was able to connect more with Chess because the "hero", Terrible, is really interesting. I'll continue on to the next book because, despite my issue with Chess

Ok, I started Eternal Kiss of Darkness for Creature Feature and I also got my e-audio copy of Summer Knight from the online library for Man's World. So I should have both done within the next 7-8 days (hopefully). I will try to have Abs of Steel done soon.

Christina, that was an excellent review of Unholy Ghosts - my experience exactly. I wanted to like Chess but just couldn't and I really came to love Terrible over the course of the next couple of books. I thought he deserved better than Chess.

This is the reason I cannot read this series. It is impossible for me to identify with or root for a heroine who is a drug addict.

I keep putting off that series because of this. I like flaws, but THIS? Not sure if I can get behind that.
