I'm starting this book by Michael McDowell and I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me?

Turns out, some do want to join! (There's always room for more, so if you're interested, come on in.) :)

I have a copy, need to see if I have it here and not in storage (lots of moving in the last year).

Tressa here, Michael's biggest fan. No, seriously, I am. However, I own this one and 1) read it soooo long ago that I've forgotten almost all of it, or 2) I've never read it. But I would like to soon. I am still plodding through Dark Places but would love to read this one some time this month and discuss it.

We generally use spoiler tags, so we can go on ahead without spoiling anything for you, Tressa. And then you can join in when you get there. (I received a free copy from Valancourt to review, so I feel like I should do it ASAP.) Would that be okay? Because I would love to hear your thoughts on it. You are the reason I love McDowell now! If it weren't for you and/or HA, I would never have heard of the guy.

That sounds great, Charlene. You don't know how thrilled I am that two of my favorite readers now love McDowell. :-)

So excited to get started on this! Finished Blackwater last week and was just knocked off my feet and extremely sad it had ended. :(

I need to get more time to be talking and active in here. So much editing lately and not as much writing and reading :/ I love my job, but sometimes it eats me up. I'll look for my copy tonight and even if I take eons I shall endeavor to take part.

That said, Layton, the prologue kicked ass. :)

I love that it references the Perdido River and Perdido in the first chapter. Makes me think about Blackwater. :)

The prologue was very mysterious. I'm eager to see where this goes.

Every time I pick up a McDowell read I feel so comfortable, like its an old friend. Really enjoying this so far:)

Part II Chapter 5

Okay, that was MESSED up.

I know right! This book is a lot more direct than his others I've read.

I found my copy :) Need to catch up now.

Wow, bombshell at pg100! Plot thickens immensely. Lol, I tried to put this book down but I can't.

I preordered this, won't have until feb 24. Looks really really good!

I convinced myself it was the teacher, especially after reading about the playboys on his bed. Then, it's revealed and it was surprising to me. Idk. I really didn't Want to believe it was Nathan.
