Happy Reading!

Dangerous Passions (Kingsland, #2) by Kat Martin
Dangerous Passions by Kat Martin

Synopsis:
Let bestselling author Kat Martin sweep you away-from Society's grand ballrooms to the perilous battlefields of the Napoleonic War-in a magnificent story of love, betrayal, and trust regained.

When Elissa Tauber learns of her beloved brother's murder and that her native homeland is threatened, she is determined to expose the traitor. Posing as a recently widowed countess, she moves through the glittering world of the court, willing to barter even her lovely body if she must.

More than one man poses a threat, but it is the tall, imposing Lord Wolvermont, Colonel Adrian Kingsland, who endangers her heart. Even as she suspects he might be the spy called the Falcon, she longs for his touch. When fate takes a hand, Elissa must decide whether to betray her mission-or lose the man she loves.

Maureen | 189 comments This was an intriguing love story, a murder to solve and a spy to catch feeding information to Napoleon’s army who invaded Austria in 1808. I gave this 5 stars as it was well written. Out of the three books chosen for March’s trope “All is fair in love and war” I would say this is the best one. Who ever nominated this thank you. I loved it. Here is my goodreads plot summary https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Lauren | 1382 comments I nominated this book. I'm glad to see Maureen enjoyed it. I hope everybody enjoys this read. It's been awhile seen I read it, so I'll be joining in the discussions.

Maureen | 189 comments Thanks Lauren. You are a ⭐️

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments This is one I will be reading, though I will read book 1 first.

I do enjoy your nominations Lauren!!! :)

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments Just finished book one in this series. Starting this book now
Elissa Tauner is looking for the person responsible for murder of her brother

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments I found this story okay. I don’t think I was in the mood to be reading a spy war story at the moment.

Lauren | 1382 comments shaz, with everything that's going on in Ukraine I understand why you weren't in the mood. The 2nd half of the book really goes into the War and all the casualties.

Lauren | 1382 comments I'm starting this book tomorrow. It's been years seen I read it. I hope it's still as good as I remember

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments I hope you enjoy your second read of this story.

Lauren | 1382 comments thanks Shaz

To catch her brother's murderer and find the traitor in the Austrian army, Elissa decides to pose as a younger version of her mother. Her late father was a Count and her mother is an actress. So her mother will teach her to become an older sophisticate woman - apparently hair cuts always make you look older ;) and her father's friend will get her in the right circles.

Now, Elissa has neared it down to three possible traitors, except she's having problems concentrating thanks to a certain sexy Colonel. I'd be having trouble too.

I love how the two MC meet when he goes through the wrong bedroom window. Strangely, the gentleman in him needs to properly met her before trying to seduce her. aww

Lauren | 1382 comments I've been reading a little slow in cause anyone else is reading it this month and want to join in :(

Lauren | 1382 comments chapter 7:
the crazy Austrian/ possible traitor enjoys beating girls for sexual gratification. Now he's fixated on Eilssa. She is way to naive to deal with him.

Separately, Colone Wolf's superiors just let him know there might be a spy.

I think Elissa is way out of her element.

Missy | 1480 comments @Lauren, I haven't had time to participate in the BOTMs. I've been working on my Mad About Series Challenge. I hope others join and discuss the book with you.

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments I did not like it when she went to meet him. What a creepy horrible person he was.

Lauren | 1382 comments Missy, i understand! It would be nice to have others to discuss the book with, especially since I've read it years ago.

Shaz, That Austrian General is on his own level of evil. I haven't read the worst part yet

I just finished Chapter 8 and 9:
Not the the smartest move of Elissa. A virgin deciding to have sex for the first time during an important investigation is not the smartest idea but then it wouldn't be a hr otherwise. The kink bribiers ahead. ....personally I'd happily submit;)

I found it on Libby but I don’t have time to read it :(

🐝 Shaz 🐝 | 1216 comments I cannot remember there being a link to these books. So you could just read book 2 .

Lauren | 1382 comments This can be read as a standalone! The first book Wolf makes a short appearance. None of the other characters are in book 2 . For me, book 2 is so much better !

I can't believe KU is charging $11. What a rip off! z library has it for free. I hope everybody can find a copy or atleast try a Kat Martin book. I'd love to discuss this book with others

Padma | 339 comments It was a very good love story. But the war and bloodshed was too much

I have started this, only through the first two chapters. It will likely take me a while to get through. I haven't read Kat Martin before but she was on my radar. I did think the setup for Elissa to travel and seek out the traitor is a bit unbelievable, but I'm willing to go with the flow.

I finished this one but found it didn’t click for me. I felt like it was hard to buy in. The plot meandered and didn’t make progress at times. Wasn’t the matter urgent? Why did she try to tackle it on her own? It didn’t make sense to me.

Sandra Moreira | 1121 comments Mod
I finished this book and I did enjoyed. I liked it more than the first one.
