Down to the Wire by David Rosenfelt is a thriller full of plot twists and adventure. This book revolves around the life of Chris Turley, a journalist at the Bergen News, and his adventures with a man that is known as P.T. The book starts off by introducing Chris Turley and his friends at the Bergen News. While at his office one day working on a story he receives a call from a mysterious tip who asks him to meet him at a park for information on what he calls the story of the century; not expecting much he arrives at the appointed meeting place which is nearby to a pediatrician that he remembers. Little did he know that being there at that exact time would change his life forever.
Chris Turley is a journalist who looks up to Edward Turley, his father, and a national star, and being his goal is to live up to his idol he decided to become a journalist at the Bergen News where his father's old friend is the manager. His father had died a few years ago due to a heart attack at a grocery store. While chasing his dreams he took an opportunity to reach them by accepting an anonymous tip that he would soon regret. This anonymous tip claimed to have information on a government scandal involving their beloved mayor. While waiting to meet up with this tip a huge explosion occurred at the meeting place. Not knowing what to do he went in and saved all the people he could, becoming a national hero and getting closer to his goal of a Pullitzer. For the time being, he was living in the moment of fame which soon became that of despair after the public's love for him became a center of hate and blame. Meanwhile, a new character who is labeled as P.T. in the story is causing trouble and setting up his big plan.
I personally gave this book a ⅘ because of its amazing progression and thrilling plotline. I could not stop reading as I wanted to know what crazy plot twist was to come next. One downside to the book was the foul language. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes to feel the adventure as if they are in the story. David Rosenfelt is an amazing author and an amazing painter of stories.
