Welcome to FBR's 2022 Monthly Reading Challenge!

March's Challenge: Either donate or read a few books you've been hanging onto for more than 10 years!

With all the new, shiny books coming out, it can be hard to remember those neglected little paperbacks you bought a decade ago keeping your shelf niknaks (I call them niknaks for obvious reasons) company. Let's dust off those tattered shelves and get ready for the new season by giving those old books some love. Let go of the ones you know you're never going to read and make time this month to crack the spine (figuratively... don't damage your books, you heathens) on at least a few of the others. :)

If you want to participate, create your own tracker thread in this folder if you haven't already. Then comment below to tell us which books you're considering for the challenge! :)

Narilka | 5715 comments This is going to take some thinking. Does rereading count? :)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments Sounds great, Niki...

I would think a reread would count if you wanted it to. Say you bought a new copy/version of a book you'd read before, or done the audio but still had the physical book laying about....

Monika | 2332 comments Hmmm possibly I have one or two from this category :)

message 5: by Paula (new)

Paula (paula7) | 1972 comments I haven't got a book that I've been hanging onto for more than 10 years since I wasn't into books then but I have got a few that I've never really finished

The name of the wind
The mortality doctrine
Lagrimas por una medalla

Anything counts as long as it makes the challenge fun and helpful. :)

Tammie | 5953 comments I just did this with The Hob's Bargain by Patricia Briggs. I've had it forever. I guess I'll look for more of them to read in March! I've also got a whole box of books to donate.

That will be fun and a chore. Hahahaha

Soo (silverlyn) | 6898 comments I'll use this theme to read older audiobooks that I've had for a few years. No idea what they are, but I'm sure they are on my tablet and feeling neglected. XD

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments Oh no... Most of my unreads on my shelves fit this description 😅
I'm not ready to do another round of donations again... but I'll read at least one from this list in March:
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
Anna Karenina
Devices and Desires
Magician: Apprentice
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

message 14: by RachelG. (new)

RachelG. | 1293 comments I don't have any books from 10 years ago in my home (except Stephanie Plum) but in 2018 my son and I took a trip to Powell's Books in Oregon and I have a stack of fantasy books from that trip I haven't read. Will plan on getting through some of these for the month.

Hooray For Hellywood
An Excess of Enchantments
A Disagreement With Death
The Glaive
Majyk By Accident
Majyk By Hook or Crook
Enchanted Pilgrimage
Witch and Wombat

Bill | 2150 comments I’ve been working on this all year so glad this got its own month.

1. The Mists of Avalon

Saar The Book owl | 3109 comments For more than 10 years? Oh dear, I forget what books I bought last year, so more than 10 years will be a challenge.
Does it need to be books that you own or can it be books that you meant to get from the library ages ago?

It can be anything that sounds fun to tackle. Cleaning out old library holds sounds fun, maybe I’ll make that a category eventually

Saar The Book owl | 3109 comments Okay, thanks, Niki!
