Her passion is flying. As one of the best helicopter pilots in the naval reserves, Lieutenant Teri Howe is strong, dedicated, and highly skilled–until a past mistake surfaces, jeopardizing everything she’s worked for.

Rock steady Senior Chief Stan Wolchonok has made a career of tackling difficult challenges. So it’s no surprise when he comes to Teri’s aid, knowing that his personal code of honor–and perhaps his heart–will be at risk. But when a jet carrying an American senator’s daughter is hijacked, Stan’s unflinching determination and Teri’s steadfast courage are put to the ultimate test. The rescue mission will be daring and dangerous. But somewhere between peril and resolution, the line between friends and lovers begins to blur, pushing both their lives over the edge. . . .

Charlene (charlenev) | 306 comments Just want to mention that for anyone who is doing these in audio and an Audible member - the entire series is on sale for rock-bottom prices right now.

Thanks, Charlene! I'm getting them on audio this time.

Thank you, Charlene!!!

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1131 comments I've finished and enjoyed it immensely. Most of the elements that irritated me about the previous book are not an issue here, and I loved Teri and Stan's romance - they are simply too adorable for words.

I'm so glad the group read has given me the opportunity to continue with the series. I probably would not have otherwise.

That's great news, Lauren! The series makes a major pivot with this book and I'm glad you were willing to give it a chance.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1129 comments One of the main reasons I seldom reread is that I remember, and I remember every plot twist for this book, and it just made me sad all over again.

Thanks Jonetta!

Book #2 was such a disappointment (aside from the Alyssa/Sam plotline) that it took me years to be willing to give it another chance.

Also, I am still not a fan of the WWII plotlines. (view spoiler)

Discussion questions are now posted!

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 189 comments This one was okay for me - I liked the continuing story of Sam & Alyssa and the new one (I hope) with Max & Gina, but thought that Stan & Teri was too dragged out.

Robin (robinmy) | 1391 comments I'm starting this one today.

Robin, it was great on audio. I had the older version.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 189 comments Which one was older version? The one I listened to had 2 narrators.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15061 comments Mod
That’s the newer version. The one I listened to was narrated by Laura Hicks. She was great!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1129 comments I also listened to the older version and really enjoyed it. How did you like the newer one, Cindy?

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 189 comments I liked 2 narrators - there was both a guy and a woman and it was pretty good. They were able to get the accents right for the Danish woman (Helga) as well as the Texas drawl for Sam.

So did Laura Hicks. She nailed all of them.

I would have preferred the option of the newer edition but my library doesn’t have it. But, I was completely happy with the original performance.

I’m really glad you enjoyed the dual narrators, Cindy, as I do have some of them later in the series. That’s good news!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments I have the newer version. It was on special on audible a couple of months ago. I enjoyed it. My library doesn't offer all of the books in the series, so I hope there is another special soon.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1129 comments My library has both versions. I think I'll try the duo next month.
