But now I'm back to going to the store just about every day. Yes, there are still days when I "shop" in the freezer, and might only need to run out to get a vegetable to accompany the meal. Yesterday was such a day, and while I was there I did the shopping for today's meal, so I didn't need to go to the store today. And tomorrow we plan to eat out, so no grocery shopping tomorrow either.

As of now, I continue to be in person two days/week. Likely at the beginning of fall and winter terms, it will be daily for a couple of weeks, but except when we are short-staffed, I expect I will continue to work from home a chunk of the time. I hope I can continue at home with the current 3 days/week. I expect that will be the case until Aug/Sept, anyway. (Unless I need to cover holidays or something.)

Good thoughts Cindy-Have also been stressed over a new health issue, so we can support each other!

But the office is next to deserted now as various people go down with Covid and other people stay home to avoid it - we’ve got a major wave of Omicron ripping through here, which is the first time Covid has been seriously rampant in NZ. Lots of noise and stress in the media and around and about - it’s certainly nasty and businesses in Auckland have had a particularly hellish time with lockdowns, but people seem to forget how freaking lucky we are to have had the time to become 95% vaccinated and nearly 60% boosted so we don’t lose so many lives … and how most of the rest of the world has had to put up with much worse for two awful years.
At least the Parliament grounds occupation is over - that was a pain and a half and added to the numbers of people staying home to avoid the abuse and hassle from the grotty minority who were out to make trouble. Our building is a short block up the street from Parliament so we had to come and go through the back and we were locked to the public. We were all sent home the day of the Police operation and the following day when it was still so volatile and there was loads of rubbish being cleared - best to stay out of the way of the experts. Things are still a mess in places but recovering

Thank you all!
And positive thoughts back to you, Joanne.

My work stress is relatively minor since no lives, jobs or real stakes are involved. The three kids I have for a recital involving students from a piano teacher's group I am in went on a 10 day holiday right when we needed to start buckling down for it (for the younger two--the oldest was to a point.)
One of them has hardly worked since before covid (no deadline, no incentive) but has also been overwhelmed this year with new things. Good for him, but stressful since piano isn't his top priority but he wants to play.
The hardest working boy puts ballet and flying over piano, but at least he's diligent with the time he puts in.
However, no teacher wants a kid to fail in a performance. If the middle one can't learn his stuff, he won't be able to play because already I bend the rules a bit and it's not for the kid who shows up for lessons but doesn't really learn their piece and that would make me sad--I've known these kids for 11 years (okay, the youngest one I teach since she was an infant.)

juju, an object that has been deliberately infused with magical power or the magical power itself; it also can refer to the belief system involving the use of juju. Juju is practiced in West African countries such as Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and Ghana, although its assumptions are shared by most African people.

That's good to hear!

Just seeing this now (10:00pm Mountain time). I'm glad things went well!

Now we need to make sure all our collective "juju" goes towards Cindy!

Ok for now, but still waiting on results. Thanks!
And thank you, Amy! :-)

How tiresome and stressful for you Cindy! I will keep the good juju directed your way.
Personally I'm finding the workload nuts. Part of that is the huge backlog in the courts caused by COVID lockdown and aftermath here in NYC is finally moving forward. I've received not one jury duty questionnaire, but two! One is State Court and the other is Federal Court. That means that after 2 years of limbo, the courts are going to be doing jury trials under pandemic conditions. These are civil matters, not criminal which proceeded apace even during lockdown. It also means motion practice and discovery in cases ramps up again...and my clients have a lot of languishing litigation. I'm not a litigator but as general counsel, I'm involved.
I also have a lot of residents behaving badly in one way or another in the homeowners entities I represent. Also the sales market is hot hot hot in NYC and it's keeping everyone busy.
I'm busy. So busy. As for office - I'm trying to get back into my office more regularly but I've also become entrenched at home. Just as there was a need to adapt when lockdown occurred, I need to adapt to being out in the world and at the office. What's interesting is most lawyers are being very cautious about returning full time to the office. Somethings are here to stay -- a lot of virtual attendance at meetings. Most real estate transactions are not being conducted in person. Court filings are only electronic -- no more walking into the County Clerk to file a deed or get a copy of something. Court appearances are still virtual.
But there is value to being back in person at many things. Mentoring young or new employees isn't that doable virtually. Brainstorming -- there is something critical about being in a room together and picking up subconsciously on body language and energy. I'm someone who finds negotiating in person most effective mostly because I deduce A LOT from body language.
There are so many advantages to being back in an office -- someone just down the hall to check a question. A social side too. But I like not having that commute, and I like not having to deal with bad weather. The truth is that I can still not go out when it's pouring, just work from home instead. No biggie.
