Name-
First Name (Xia [Pronunciation: zeye-uh])
Middle Name (Leah)
Last Name (Dare)
Nicknames (X)
Birth-
Date of Birth (April 16th)
Place of Birth (Cheshire, England)
Age (16)
Abilities (She’s able to change her features and characteristics to anything she wants to. Whether she wants to look like someone she knows, and impersonate them, or make up an entirely new appearance for herself, or even give herself animalistic characteristics to suit her needs, she can shift with just a thought. Two things are consistent with all of her skins: Wings and pointed teeth and ears.)
Species (No one knows. Least of all her. [Except me: She’s part werewolf, part shifter, part human.])

“So much on my brain, don't know if you can take it
Your heart is fragile, baby, I don't wanna break it
If you know my sins, will you still trust me?
If I let you in, will you still love me?
Can you keep a secret?”

Appearance:
[She shifts her appearance, but I’ll put down her favorite one and the one she’s wearing when she enters town.]

[Favorite: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/da/79/...])
Description (
[Current: Five feet and two centimeters tall. She has bright blue hair that’s cut messily short. Her eyes are nearly the same color, with a bit of purple here or there. Her skin is somewhat pale, and smooth. Her features are small, almost delicate. She’s thin, but strong. Her ears and teeth are slightly pointed, the teeth pearly white. X has always been fascinated by faeries. Most of her chosen skins have similar features and characteristics to the fae.
She has dark pixie-like wings sprouting from her shoulder blades. When she isn’t using them, they hang down from her shoulders like a glittering cape, barely short enough to avoid scraping along the ground. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0f/ce/...]
[Favorite: Five feet and six inches tall. Her hair is a dark brown close to the roots turning to red in a kind of ombre effect framing her face. It has the same cut as her current skin’s hair. Her skin is about the same color as her current skin’s, but she has freckles dusting the skin over her nose and under her eyes. She’s thin around the waist, with an hourglass figure. Her teeth are slightly pointed, as well as her ears.
Her wings are a grey-ish color, bat-like in their structure. https://www.pngitem.com/pimgs/m/184-1...])
Head-
Hair ([Current: A bright blue color, cut messily short, framing her face and often hanging down in front of her right eye.]
[Favorite: Dark brown near the roots of her hair, and in the back. Fading to dark red in a sort of ombre effect. Cut like her current skin’s hair.])
Eyes ([Current: Light blue-ish purple. In the light they turn purple, and in the dark they’re a brilliant, iridescent blue color.]
[Favorite: Chocolate brown, with gold flecks. She brightens and dims the color as she pleases.])
Clothing-
Style (Cozy. She often wears soft sweaters or T-shirts. Leggings are common.)
Shirts (She often wears shirts in various shades of grey. She also wears lots of sweaters. Always something comfortable she could curl up with a book in. Her favorites are a dove grey sweater with long sleeves and a turtleneck: https://i.etsystatic.com/22107446/r/i... and a similarly styled black shirt: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6...)

Socks (Ankle-high socks, usually in a light or dark grey color.)
Shoes (https://i.pinimg.com/564x/ac/9e/64/ac...)

“I've got skeletons that coming out the closet
The hands around my throat don't want me to be honest
If you know my sins, will you still trust me?
If I let you in, will you still love me?”

Personality:
Personality in a Nutshell-
(She’s usually pretty sweet, and gentle. She has one hell of a temper, though. When she’s really mad, she swears until she’s blue in the face, then gets herself away from whatever situation upset her. She has bipolar disorder. She has no face of her own, only the ones she pulls from her imagination. That will cause anyone trouble as far as identity goes.
She’s an ambivert, and her personality type is ISFJ-T, or the Defender. She often gives all of herself, without expecting anything in return. She tries to stay out of the spotlight, and tests to see if someone is worth interacting with by pushing them away. If they continue to try to interact, then they’re worth it.
She’s supportive, reliable, patient, imaginative, observant, enthusiastic, loyal, hard-working, and she has good practical skills. She’s humble, shy, she takes things too personally, represses her feelings, overloads herself, she’s reluctant to change, and is sometimes too altruistic.)
Preferences-
Likes (The dark, the cold, music, drawing, singing, playing the piano, reading, writing, creating.)
Dislikes (Sleeping, eating, bright light, chalk, too many people.)
Traits-
Strengths (Smart, good at interacting [no matter how she feels about it], fast, strong, flexible.)
Weaknesses (Undernourished, sleep deprived, too trusting, insecure.)
Habits (Messing with her hair when she’s nervous, walking silently.)

“I see monsters in my bed
I got screws loose in my head
If I show you inside me, the ghost in my mind
Will you treat me like your friends?
I gotta know
Can you keep a secret?”

History and Family:
History-
History in a Nutshell (X was born in a lab. X was actually her name, because her worth to the scientists who trained her was unknown until she was four. Among her group, she was known as Xia, because she didn’t want to be known by the name the scientists gave her, and they wanted to be able to call her X for short, because it was so firmly ingrained in them.
The scientists tortured the children, trying to figure out what exactly was different about them. Their parents were supernaturals, you see, and the scientists were trying to figure out how to breed them. At the age of four, she first shifted her appearance. She just wanted to be smaller, so she could escape the knives, and the fists, and the needles full of dizzying drugs that made her sick. All of a sudden she was.
She escaped her prison at the age of ten, when the scientists accidentally killed her only sibling, Yvonne, her half-sister. She hid for several years, in a coma-like state, healing from her wounds. She didn’t die because her body kept shifting, her subconscious switching between skins every time one got weak or sick. Her wounds stayed with her, though.)

Heya. :) Do you have any ideas for starting plot? I was thinking it could be pretty open-ended, in case we want to move in a different direction when we start role playing, but what do you think? How should they meet?

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure. :)

X made her way slowly through the overgrown forest, shadows playing across her pale skin. They whispered to her, wreathing her in darkness as she crossed a small stream, and made her way through the dense plants.
She came across a small, abnormal opening, where some light filtered through, and she froze. There was movement on the other side of the leafy wall blocking her path. She hesitated, unsure what to do. She had been under the impression that no one lived in this area.
Slowly, she brushed the leaves aside, peering through, and allowing her eyes to slowly adjust to the sudden light. On the other side of the leaves was a small clearing, and a cottage. Outside the cottage, was a male.
She sat back on her heels, contemplating the pros and cons of approaching the person. Eventually, she decided to make her way out of the foliage, making a very small amount of noise. She wanted to alert the stranger to her presence, not to scare him. She slowly approached, keeping her head down, her hair concealing her oddly colored eyes.

((I have to go, I'm sorry. I hopped online for lunch, but my next class is starting.))

Xia met his eyes, her shadows flocking around her as her heart began to race. They could feel the fear thundering through her veins, the residual horror from the memories brought to the surface at his height and build. A very similar height and build to one of the scientists she had escaped years earlier.
She took a deep breath, breathing in his unique scent. It reminded her of oranges and cinnamon. Nothing like the scientist's, who had smelled of rot and terror. Blood. She shuddered, taking another deep breath to flush out the memories.
She cautiously lifted up her hands, palms out, and spoke in a soft voice, with a mild accent. "I'm sorry I scared you. That was never my intention. I simply don't have the slightest clue where I am, and I was wondering if you could tell me." She said quietly, lowering her eyes. The meek traveler act was one she used frequently, and she was well-practiced at assuming the role.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

She took a step back, taking a cue from him. "Aquire..." She murmured. She couldn't recall a town, city, or state with that name. And surely he would be more specific than telling her the name of the continent.
Her shadows wrapped themselves around her, whispering to her. Filling her in on some things she had missed...
Oh.
That's what happened.
Last time I was up and around, this area was under a different name. Veradian Territory. It was under the control of a tribe. Clearly, I will need a little while to get up to date on what's been going on.
She thought to herself, messing with a leaf next to her foot. She kept her eyes down. "I'm sorry, I don't recognize that name." She said quietly, continuing to move her foot around on the ground. "Do you have a map, or something?"

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry for the late reply.. I had to go onstage, and my computer turned off.))

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

((Agck! Sorry! I was working on another post, because I found some fancy formatting... xD I'm OCD, so that appealed to me.))

((Sorry... again. >.< So, I'm going to say this now, I'm going to be really inconsistent as far as replies go, because life is crazy right now. I'm hopping on every time I get a chance, but since I'm trying to get my word count up, I'm often interrupted in the middle of typing a post, and goodreads posts don't save. The play I'm in goes up in a day and a half, some Student Body Leadership stuff is coming together the same day, and I'm doing track and karate, plus school, and eating, sleeping, etc. But my activity should pick up after that.))

She squinted at the map, quietly shooing her shadows out of the way. "That is so weird..." She murmured, her voice barely audible. "Who drew this? It's so accurate." She ran her finger gently over the edge of the map. ((She's been gone for a very long time, and is not aware that there is such a thing as the internet, satellites, and printers. xD)) "It's even in color..."
Something moved slightly outside, probably a branch against the wall, and her head shot up. Scenting the air for danger, she sensed none, so she got back to work looking over the map.
"This..." She said quietly, almost to herself, gesturing to a small island. "Was over here..." She dragged her finger over slightly, closer to the nearest large land mass. She kept it there, the look in her eyes fond, even as it was sad, and dark.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

X laughed, and shrugged, and the musical sound of her laughter filled the air. "I may well have done so, but if I did, I don't remember." She smiled, eyes twinkling. Chances are, she had, at some point. Probably multiple times. But that wasn't why she couldn't remember. In fact, she could remember. She just wasn't there when the world had changed so much.
She glanced at Faron. "Oh, I'm so sorry." She apologized. "I didn't tell you my name. It's Xia." She said quietly, noting how tall he was.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Xia smiled softly back at Faron, attempting to look friendly and nonthreatening. "It's nice to meet you, no matter how odd the circumstances." Her shadows flocked around her once more as she took in his size and took a couple of deep breaths to prevent a panic attack.
It was her first time up and around since her family had been killed, since she had escaped that hellhole of a science lab, where she had been considered fair game to the scientists.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Xia looked at his hand, tilting her head. "Is that a custom now?" She asked, looking confused. She stuck out her hand in the same way as he was. "It was different, last time I was in the area." She looked curiously at Faron. "Maybe you could show me your way, and I could show you mine?" She suggests softly, her shadows fading slightly now that she had her emotions under control.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

She nodded, surprised at the sudden contact. She gently shook his hand as well, keeping the same complete control over her body as always. "Interesting..." She murmured. "That's a lot different from the way things used to be." She tilted her head. "My turn?" She asked quietly, meeting his eyes for the first time.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

((I have to go, sorry. I was thinking for the greeting thing we could use the kiss on both cheeks that a lot of different countries use as a greeting, if you're good with that. If you have any other ideas, let me know, and I'll reply when I can. :) ))

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

((That's fine. :P))

Slowly, X stepped a bit closer to Faron. She stood on her tiptoes, but still wasn't close enough to reach his face. She smiled teasingly. "You're going to have to lean a bit closer." She said quietly, tilting her head a bit, then righting it.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Xia rolled her eyes, a teasing smile on her lips. "You look like you're afraid I'm going to bite." She said, smiling crookedly. "I won't... much." She snapped her teeth playfully, making sure to lean back a little when she did so. She wanted to play, not scare him.
Slowly, making small movements so as not to startle him, she raised up on her tiptoes again, and kissed him, first on one cheek, then the other. Her lips were a soft brush against his skin, and she stepped back afterwards, smiling impishly. "That wasn't too bad, was it?" She teased, grinning.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

((O.o Well, that was unexpected. xD))

X frowned slightly, unoffended. "Well, that was just mean." She chided. "I was just trying to play. I think the 'I hate you' was a step too far." She sighed. "I'm sorry. I understand now that that isn't how people greet each other anymore. I'll leave. I'm sorry I disturbed your gardening, and I hope you have a nice life." She brushed her hair back from her face, and turned towards the door, half-hoping that he would ask her to stay. He seemed nice, and she really didn't have the slightest idea what the terrain was like anymore.

message 17: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 10, 2022 04:57PM) (new)

Xia stopped, still facing the door. Slowly, she looked over her shoulder, raising an eyebrow. "You don't need to smooth ruffled feathers, because there aren't any." She looked pointedly at her pixie-like wings, smiling a bit. She was naturally a joker, and often said stupid things to lessen tension.
She tilted her head slightly, turning to face him, hands on her hips. "Not gonna lie, you remind me of my younger sister, throwing a temper tantrum because things didn't go your way." She said seriously, his words sinking in and beginning to hurt. They were the same words that one of the nicer, younger scientists-in-training said when she had escaped. "Fine. Leave. I don't care. I won't stop you."
He had been her only friend in that hellhole, after her sister had died. And those words often came back to her in flashes.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

((Allo? I don't want to bother you, because it really hasn't been that long, but I thought maybe the notification hadn't popped up, because there's a glitch that happens sometimes.))

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

((It's totally fine. :P I figured, so I just thought I'd check.))

Xia sighed, running her fingers through her blue hair. "I'm pretty sure you did. Honestly, the entire thing was rather comical." Her lips twisted in a savage smile that didn't reach her eyes. Obviously, she didn't find their current situation comical. The flashback had put her in a rather stormy mood. "It was interesting, seeing someone my age acting like that."
This is the kind of mood where she said stupid things, and became kind of dangerous. It was in her best interest, and probably best for Faron that she leave now, but something kept her feet anchored, almost as if she felt like she could rely on him to catch her when she went into the inevitable [figurative] death spiral. As if she felt he could calm her fear and rage, the after effect of a flashback.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

((SORRY! I have to to go, but I should have time for one more post. If not... Then I guess it'll cut me off in the middle. If that happens, I'll talk to you later! :3))

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

She sighed. "What gives you the impression I'm mad at you?" She asked, softening her voice a tad. "I just... Something reminded me of something better left forgotten, and I forgot where I was, who you were, for a second. It takes me a little while to recover from that."
She frowned. "And I warned you it was different from greetings now. I even went slow, so that I wouldn't startle you!" She sighed. "I don't know what to do with myself, how to interact properly." She gazed at him, focusing on a spot between his eyes so she didn't have to meet them. "Do you think you could teach me? Just a little bit?"

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

She rolled her eyes. "You're, like, the most polite person I've ever met." She teased. "It's extremely interesting to interact with you, because I've never met anyone quite like you." She tilted her head, observing his cautiousness. "If I may ask, why do I frighten you?" She questioned him quietly. "I mean to do you no harm. I simply enjoy teasing, and playing, so it's usually quite clear that I'm feeling dark emotions when I am, and I usually get away from people quickly when that happens."

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry for the late reply! o.o))

X sighed. "Yeah, well I don't like humans much, either. I hope you know by now that I really will not hurt you." She sat down next to him, maintaining about six inches of space between herself and the tall male. "So, what are the basics of human interaction nowadays?" She asked, tilting her head. "My rulebook is definitely out of date."

message 24: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 12, 2022 10:30AM) (new)

((Allo? Again, I don't want to bother you, but I can see you posting in other threads, and thought maybe you missed the notification again. If you want me to mind my own business, just say the word and I will, I was just wondering if you would like to continue.))

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

X laughed. "I did that. It didn't seem to work very well." She grinned crookedly, amusement shining in her eyes. "And I believe it's safe to say that I haven't interacted for longer than you, so anything would be more helpful than nothing at all."

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

((I'm sorry, I may be wrong, but I know X is female, and I was relatively sure that Faron was male. It's fine if they aren't, I should probably ask now, though, and if they aren't, I can modify my replies a bit.))

Xaia rolled her eyes. "But you're fun." She teased, tilting her head. "I enjoy attempting to predict your behavioral patterns, since they seem to be rather erratic. One minute you're relaxing, the next you're freaking out, and I never know what to expect." She frowned. "Once you're around for long enough, the actions of others become
mundane. And mundane is just another word for normal. Which is boring."

message 27: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 12, 2022 11:22AM) (new)

((Coolio. :) ))

She sighed. "You're interesting. And that you aren't boring. Both are good things, correct?" She asked, following him. She perched quietly on the counter, her soft blue hair falling against her face, and her piercing blue eyes fixed on the male moving around in the kitchen.
Her delicate hands rested on the marble next to her, and her feet dangled in their boots in the air. She was too short to touch the ground at this height. She blew a strand of hair out of her eyes, and tilted her head. "Why do you believe I wouldn't understand not wanting to be fun?" She asked quietly, unblinking.
Her unnerving stare often intimidated people, but she really didn't try to stare. She simply didn't feel the need to blink oftentimes, and she liked to look at the person she was talking to when engaging in conversation. She blew out a soft breath, lowering her eyes to the ground. She was well aware that people were often more comfortable when she had her gaze down. It grated on her to preform even that small act of submission, but sometimes it was necessary.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

She shrugged. Deciding to put some more thought into how she should answer, and she watched the bird on his shoulder. Her wings fluttered slightly behind her, then she spread them out over the counter a bit, letting the muscles that typically hold them rigid behind her relax, and letting a soft breath out in relief. The dim light in the kitchen reflected off her pixie-like wings, and they glittered, changing shades in the varying amounts of light and shadow.
"I carefully calculate the face I show others." She finally settled on, in response to his comment. "I act completely carefree, so that most people don't notice how dangerous I can be." She said softly, being more honest than she usually is. She kicked her feet slightly, allowing them to swing back and forth, back and forth.
She began to tap out a quiet rhythm on the counter top, relaxing, and simply enjoying the peace of the moment.
Peace that she should not be experiencing...
Her eyes opened fully, flashing a deep purple, and her face twisted in quiet agony. Her sister was dead, and she was enjoying the presence of a stranger. She took a deep breath, attempting to get it together before Faron turned back around, before he could notice her anguish. Slowly, she calmed her features, once more presenting the carefree mask that she wore when in the company of any person, human or otherwise.
She had been a fool to believe she could let it fall in the first place.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

She smiled, but there was no humor in the action. "Exactly." She folded her arms, pulling her feet up so she could rest her chin on her knees. She watched the bird, and now when she looked at it, instead of an adorable creature whom she could envision flying alongside, she only saw the broken body of some kind of hybrid animal she had attempted to save from the labs when she left. The poor creature had died only days later.
She glanced away, pressing her forehead tight into her palms, and rubbing her eyes. She had seen way too much violence in her lifetime. But she couldn't let the memories rule her. If they did... chaos would ensue.
She took another deep breath, shaking her head slightly to clear it.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

((I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to get back to you later. I have to go. Bye!))

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Her eyes moved back to the bird, and she smiled, softly this time. She had regained control of her emotions and her memories, and was now able to react more reasonably. She glanced around the room again, noting all the possible entrances and exits. A lot were too small for anything humanoid to get through. That told her how much he enjoyed the company of animals.
She had, too, at one point. But everything kept going wrong. She tilted her head, her wings twitching. She made eye contact with Faron, smiling a bit, and waiting to see what he would do next.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

She tilted her head, and laughed a bit. "Even though I'm on higher ground, you're still taller than me." She smiled crookedly, amusement in her eyes. She carefully calculated the amount that she could swing her legs on the counter top without kicking him accidentally, or getting too close, and adjusted her momentum accordingly.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

((Hello?))

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

She tilted her head, eyes glittering. "What does it look like I'm doing, tap dancing?" She smiled crookedly. "I'm sitting on the counter top, and I'm swinging my legs." She said slowly, keeping her expression soft so he knows she's teasing.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

X stood, and walked over to him, reaching out slowly to gently touch his face. She frowned, and scanned his features, as if puzzled by something she had found there. She snatched her hand back, retreating a couple of steps. "I'm sorry." She said quickly, adverting her eyes and moving back a bit further. "I forgot I wasn't supposed to touch you."

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

((Aww. <3 :P))

Xaia moved back to the counter, and hopped up, sitting on her hands. "I've simply never seen someone with a face like yours. It's entirely unique in its structure." She explained. She was lying, attempting to mask her actual motive: She was fascinated by Faron, and she couldn't seem to keep it in the back of her brain that he didn't like her touch.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

She blinked at him. "Uhh- I honestly don't have the slightest idea." She shrugged. "I haven't eaten in several days, so theoretically, I should be hungry, but I'm not." She said. "And why do you thank me for that. It's simple fact. I did you no favors." She tilted her head, confusion in her gaze.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

She blinked. "What's a 'ramen'?" She asked curiously. When he remarked on her comment a few moments earlier, she frowned. "But that would be a lie. Your face is far from horrible, or from trash. You are actually rather physically attractive." She added, having no idea of the full meaning of those last words was nowadays. In her mind, she was simply stating fact.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

She tilted her head, studying his motion. "Why not comment? I'm simply stating the truth." She shrugged, reaching up to play with her hair. Her wings moved slightly, brushing against the cool marble of the counter top, and she immediately lifted them, a small shiver moving through her body at the change in temperature. She then tucked her wings in close, so that they would be warm. They were incredibly sensitive, so she had to be careful of them. "Is this another one of those weird modern social rules? Don't tell someone that their face is pleasing to look at?" She asked, still confused.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Xaia frowned. "That doesn't make any sense. What makes it wrong for me to say you're attractive, when it's fine to say it to others?" She sighed. "This is too complicated. Why are rules different for different people? I just treat people with respect, and that should be it, right?" She rubbed her temples, getting a minor headache.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

X flinched at his tone, then nodded when he apologized, and pulled her knees up to her chest, staying silent. She pressed her cheek against her knees, and closed her eyes. All of her other senses were locked on him, though. She was in no way unaware of his movements.
He had just made himself a threat. A minor one, but from this moment on, she would be more cautious around him.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

She looked at it, smelling the steam wafting off of it, and the scent of spices. She didn't move from her position on the counter, gazing at the noodles. They moved softly as the water was disturbed by the walking motion of Faron as he walked it over to the table.
She slowly moved her unblinking stare up to Faron's face, tilting her head. After a moment of thought, she uncurled slowly, elegantly, and slid off of the counter, her bare feet landing noiselessly on the cool floor. She made her way slowly to the table, and took a hesitant bite of the ramen, still standing.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

She glanced up at him, then back down at the noodles. "Not really." She said quietly, remaining upright. She set the bowl back down on the table. "I'm sorry, this is really good, but I am unaccustomed to such rich flavor, and it will take me a minute to adjust."

message 44: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 15, 2022 10:38AM) (new)

She tilted her head. "At least, it's incredibly flavorful for me, considering that I don't eat often, and only really eat so that I can keep up my strength, not for taste." She glanced at the television, eyes wide as sound and light exploded from the small box. She backed up slowly, pulling herself up to sit crouched on the table, her hands braced on the surface, and her eyes focused completely on the screen. She jumped every time something appeared, extremely confused and mildly afraid.

((Yeah. :P))

X bared her teeth at the screen, slowly backing up. "What. The. Hell?" She said, eyes going feral. She didn't even glance at him as he approached her, partially shifting some of her features. Her wings disappeared, and claws ripped from her nail beds.
