This challenge is to see if you can find all the words listed below within your reading for the month. You do not need to preselect a level.

The maximum number of words for each book is THREE. There is no page limit.

0-3 words : better luck next time
3-5 words : warming up
6-8 words : getting hotter
9-10 words : CHAMPION hunter!

APRIL
afternoon
budget
cancel
go
kitchen
native
proper
sing
switch
wash

Bonus
For our over-achievers who just need some extra words because the above weren't enough...

Unlike with the 10 words above - you must find the EXACT word to claim these bonus words, and I try to make them hard.

hefty
mud
snake
tunnel
wandering

and a bonus bonus
grandiose

To prove that you have found the word, please quote the page, percentage or LOC (Kindle) and include the sentence in which it appears.

Audiobooks are allowed so long as you can quote the page/%/LOC and the sentence. (Eg Using whispersync or finding that sentence in some other way.)

You must find the actual word or the word's root word must be at the core with the meaning essentially remaining the same ~ just turned into a noun, adjective, adverb etc. No prefixes or hyphenated extensions. An extension is allowed where it is often the accepted spelling eg goodbye or good-bye.

Where a word has more than one meaning, either meaning may be used. Eg coast (beachfront) or coast (moving without effort) etc

Please post all entries, updates, final posts and questions in this thread.

RULING for the BONUS words
If you are one of those super-cray-cray/OCD/overly ambitious/organised or bored readers who wish to find words from PRIOR months that are missing in addition to the current month's words, you may use an additional three (3) words per book. These can only be allocated to prior month words.

So you may allocate three words per book to the current month's words, AND three words per book if those words are from PRIOR months' and have been carried forward.

Examples for 'Reversal'
Reverse - Laser Visions √ 15 May
p50-51 : There were a couple of bands Tam had that this person didn't, but none in the reverse.

Reversing - Sunset √ 10 Jul
p204 : Reversing his grip on his katana, he held it out to Nick.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Tips for finding words - courtesy of Jennifer ♔Princess Penguin♔

Using Google books:
~Go here https://books.google.com/bkshp?hl=en&...
~Type in the name of your book
~Select your book
~On the left about midway down there will be a search bar, type your word in there.

Couple of things you need to know...
~you need to check every variety of the word you want so, let's say GROUP doesn't show up you would also need to type in GROUPS/ED/ING
~Unfortunately, 99% of the books on Google does not list page numbers (at least in my experience)

Using Amazon:
~You search for your book
~Once on your book page make sure you are on a version that is paperback or hardcover (Kindle editions will not work)
~On the left there will be a picture of your book and it should have "Search Inside" above it
~Click on the book and the search bar will be inside

You will not need to search separately for plurals but you will still need to search separately for -ed and -ing

***
You can also search for words in all the books loaded on your Kindle.

On the home page, use the 'search' function.
~ type in the word and select 'search my items'.

6. NATIVE - The Less Than Spectacular Times of Henry Milch - √ 7 April 2022

7. PROPER - A Handkerchief for Kade - √ 14 April 2022
p142 - "Don't you think she should get a real trial? A jury of her peers? A proper legal process? Maybe you've forgotten that you're human because the Guild hasn't treated you like one, but you're still a man, Otis. And you deserve your freedom."

8. SING - Code Blue - √ 2 April 2022
p152 - "Jeremy, I've been with you guys now for a lot of years. I know when you like the songs you sing. Some songs, some music you sing, you perform, and you do it perfectly. But then there are some songs that you love, that you feel, and it shows."

BONUS Read 5/5
1. HEFTY - Code Blue - √ 2 April 2022
p270 - I guess that hefty price for the new HD state of the art cameras was worth it.

BONUS BONUS Read 1/1
1. GRANDIOSE - Better Red - √ 17 April 2022

FINISHED!!!!

budget Just Friends- page 12- "I should have the budget for another full-time firefighter in six months." 4/5-4/6
cancel You & Me- page 33- I didn't cancel on Landon, and on Thursday afternoon, I pulled into the parking lot of the athletic center adjacent to the stadium. 4/6-4/7
go Pregnant by the Playboy- page 1- And it has nothing to do with any parties or clubs I might to late in the evening. 4/4
kitchen Tough Luck- page 7- I should have stayed in bed, even if I'd been awake for hours, waiting for a suitable time to putter around in his kitchen. 4/3
native The Prisoner of Limnos- page 9- "Let's go find Duke Jurgo." 4/2-4/3
proper Pregnant by the Playboy- page 10- He's East Asian, and he has black hair, a little too long to be strictly proper, I think. 4/4
sing The Prisoner of Limnos- page 17- "I've heard them sing twice, at festivals there." 4/2-4/3
switch Just Friends- page 92- Still, when we finally switch out the lights and climb into bed, I don't fall right asleep. 4/5-4/6
wash Just Friends- page 97- The smell of sawdust and Tanner's sweat is making me light-headed, and after I suggest he takes the first shower, by the time I climb in, his body wash is all I can smell 4/5-4/6

Bonus

hefty A Cowboy to Remember- page 304- Since then she'd been offered two hefty endorsement deals.
mud Tough Luck- page 61- His t-shirt advertised something called a mud run that sounded like forced misery but apparently raised money for charity. 4/3
snake The Prisoner of Limnos- page 27- But he bid a glum goodbye to his prior mental image of the pudgy, timid eunuch secretary, swapping it out for this overdressed white snake of an assassin standing taut before him. 4/2-4/3
tunnel You & Me- page 68- I spotted Landon near the tunnel where our kids jogged from the athletic center, beneath the home side of the stadium, and ran out to the field. 4/6-4/7
wandering Tough Luck- page 33- I'd taken the opportunity while he'd been showering to put the produce in the kitchen, but I'd returned upstairs because I wasn't crazy about him wandering around on his own until I had a better lay of the land. 4/3
