Robin P | 5757 comments I had read a number of stories by Asimov but never read this book as a whole. I had forgotten that he actually writes less about science than about human nature and psychology. This book holds up very well, considering it was from the 1950's. He even has a strong and smart woman character, which was rare at the time. The robots are kind of charming in a steam punk way, being made of tubes, relays, metal parts, etc. But over time they do evolve to many of the capacities they have today. Unfortunately, in our world there are no "laws of robotics" to protect us from artificial intelligence, and more importantly, from each other. A world run by really good robot brains that were devoted to protecting humanity wouldn't destroy itself in the many ways humans are managing to do.
