Zoe Danielle (zoedaniellexx) | 14 comments Hi guys.

I hope everybody is well.

I am looking for hints/tips on how to promote my first novel which I am hoping to release end of March/April time.

How did you promote your release/how do you plan on promoting?

Thanks in advance.

Zoe

Susanne McCarthy | 25 comments Are you on Twitter? That's a good place to start. A useful book is Twitter for Writers, by Rayne Hall - lots of practical advice on how to build your platform. Get started on that now, just with general tweets and chats, then by the time your book is nearly due for release you won't look like one of those twats who just barges in with BUY MY BOOK BUY MY BOOK.

As with the Twitter thing, it's something you would rather start early.

Most books and seminars on book promotion recommend a multiple approach.

Personal Appearances: Participation in literary festivals and conventions, formal presentations and book signings at public libraries, book stores, and book club meetings.

Push Cards, Business Cards, and Thank-you Cards: Custom designed to focus on the book and its author.

Literary Websites: Active participation in discussion groups. Not just those specifically designated for self-promotion. Allow members to get to know you as a person and fellow reader.

Website: Custom designed and maintained to focus upon the book and its author. Include the author's biography, book blurb, event announcements, and a interactive communication page.

Interviews: Accept interview requests from established literary magazines, blogs, and websites.

I wish you success.
