I suppose Zelensky could try chasing Putin down with a chicken legged house. Maybe a drone that looks like a crone using a broom to paddle her cauldron through the night.

Ian Miller | 1857 comments My view is that if the US government really has recovered UFOs and has kept the information under wraps of secrecy, it must be the most efficient suppression of information ever. No whistle-blowers, no stolen objects, no photographs. And of the entire surface of Earth, all these UFOs have to crash in the US. The US must be truly blessed.

A logical position. But let's say that they have occasionally recovered ridiculously advanced aerospace tech from themselves and even rival nations. How do you keep that secret?

Perhaps planting easily debunked cover stories about little grey aliens? And if civilians saw something, why send uniformed officers when you can send some guys in off the rack black suits who can act a little weird and thus give the civilians just the wrong ideas?

message 70: by Ian (new)

Ian Miller | 1857 comments If you use it, it is no longer secret. If you don't use it, yes, you have kept it secret but what was the point? I suppose you could not work out how to use it, and so desirous of keeping it secret that you did not bring in enough people smart enough to try to work it out (if you did, it would leak).

Therefore there is nothing there, except that people with black suits or stupid haircuts will keep telling you there is :-)

Have you ever heard of Have Blue?

It was Lockheed's demonstrator for the F-117 Stealth Bomber. Its earliest declassified flight was in December of 1977. At about the same time, development and production of the B-2 was underway. The DOD didn't admit to the existence of either until shortly before Desert Storm, in 1990. And yes, several of them crashed.

The funny thing is that in that same period of time people started reporting black triangles in the sky. They were called UFO nuts, and some of them even claimed to have been visited by Men in Black.

message 72: by Ian (new)

Ian Miller | 1857 comments No, I missed "Have Blue".

I would expect that a lot of "UFO" sightings around places like Nevada were actually tests of some new development.

Exactly my point. For over a decade people were seeing these stealth aircraft, and the DOD responded by deriding them as having seen "flying saucers". It was a very effective cover-up.

How long has the DOD been gas lighting about "flying saucers" in order to cover-up their new toys?

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8073 comments That's one explanation, a good one.

I'd think that if aliens were checking us out, they'd have the means to remain incognito until they wanted direct contact. Or maybe they're not that worried about being seen? Who knows? I just hope they're friendly. It would be ironic if I'm worried about the Democrats and it turns out that I should have been worried about aliens :-)

Scout wrote: "I'd think that if aliens were checking us out, they'd have the means to remain incognito until they wanted direct contact...."

Very good point, Scout.

I've always been surprised that most people assume that aliens would automatically take some sort of physical form within the boundaries of human understanding. They might be invisible to the naked eye or could even be some sort of energy force.

Then again, they might seek to occupy certain humans' bodies and exert their influence this way. It would certainly explain the rise of wokism. It might even explain our politicians' seemingly self-destructive leadership. In case David Icke is a member of this group (and I have a lot of respect for you, David), the idea that the Royal Family could be aliens is false. If an alien in any form attempted to take over the Queen's body, it would simply be struck down by lightning.

In the very early emergence of metallurgy, places like Cyprus had very rich deposits of copper, and even natural copper. Had there been such an industrial society, those deposits would not have remained. Similarly, for mining of something like tin in Cornwall, early mining would have worked out such deposits. The absence of fossils with even signs of brain development as well as an absence of clear hands and forward-looking eyes is also a bit of a clue.
