I've got the two hands on the cover in the works (I'll put it on the spreadsheet now :)

For the plain, it says it's a plain.... :)

It is a month from the start date. So it started on the 8th June so the cut off will be the 8th July. I found audible plus had a copy last night while looking through the catalogue, so I might also try and squeeze it in.

Eni | 2349 comments We vanquished the Sirens. New Monster:

Echidna

Echidna aka the Mother of Monsters has been spotted on your lands. Hard to kill and looking for some quality "me time".

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 350 and 450 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book with CAVE in text.
3.) Read a book where a character uses a sword.
4.) Author name (first and last) contain all the letters in HERA
5.) Read a book where a MC is a mother

I'm planning to read it, but I need to finish some other books first. Might be able to get around to it later this coming week.

Melissa, that looks like the African plain in the background. It's a stretch, but I think it works.

Keli | 1321 comments I'm currently listening to Ashes of the Sun, I'm only 21% in and am out of town doing family stuff this weekend, but i can probably have it finished by Tuesday. Sadly, it's 592 pages but it does have the word cave in the text, there are swords used and there might be a mother MC (though right now, no-one fits the bill). So it would cover 2 possibly 3 of the tasks.

Just putting these here in case

Kit struggled for a moment, then produced a glowstone, lighting the cave with a faint blue glow. “Here we are. Told you there'd be something!” The cave was long and narrow, a crevice stretching a dozen meters into the side of the ...

Kit led them through the tunnels under Deepfire to one of a hundred disused, dead-end sections, and Gyre watched in mild surprise as a passage that looked like it had been totally blocked by a cave-in cleared itself in seconds.

It was a cave, roughly circular, with a wider tunnel at one end that ended abruptly in a wood-and-canvas barricade

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments I'll be finishing Watcher in the Woods tomorrow. It works for the page count and cave tasks for Echidna. I'll add it to the list and use where you will.

I have a few library books I need to finish that don't fit anything pressing right now, but can start a new audiobook tomorrow. Is anyone working on a book with royalty or a thief?

Eni | 2349 comments Sphinx was slained. New Monster:

Charbydis

Charbydis has been spotted close to your shores and endangering ships heading for the harbor. If you manage to defeat this monster be prepared to answer "how are you still alive" every time you tell the story. The monster is interested in helping you reach your childhood dream of finding what's in Davy Jones's Locker.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book 800 pages or longer.
2.) Author's name (first or last) starts with one of the letters in POOL.
3.) Read a book where the MC is forced to make a hard choice (your interpretation).
4.) Read a book with "fig" in the title or text.
5.) Read a book where the characters take a boat trip (of any type).

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I put Storm Warrior in for T3 of Charbydis but it also works for Lightening on the cover, which is a harder task to fulfill so feel free to change that. It also works for two hands and a few others...

Actually, Tangled Warriors works for Charybdis Tasks 3 and 5 - I'll put that one in :D

Nanci | 2567 comments I got a lot of reading time into today and finished my book that works for "cave", if we need it for that.

Also, my book The Broken Girls was listed twice on the SS, so I deleted one of the listings and replaced it with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. I added the tasks it works for. Also, the edition I read has a brown cover. I don't think we need that task right now, but if we get a new monster and need it, it would fit.

Hey Stacy. Yeah I like them in a they're trashy but the smut is decent and at least one of our main characters is actually not garbage. I have a favorite twin and I read it mostly for her and her relationship with one of the male leads though at my current point in the series I'm kind of like okay time to learn to function without them too. So it definitely has its issues but it's also addicting like I binged the first three in a weekend for a readathon (3x speed on audio). I do suggest the audio in conjunction with the book if you like audiobooks. Especially in book 2 when they add in the perspectives of the male leads.

I haven't given any of them more than 3 stars because while I like them well enough they also aren't amazing. They're middle of the road and they are dark and the male leads are really not good guys to the twins at first and take the bullying aspect way too far like crossing into life-threatening and assault territory in the first book. I probably would have stopped after that book if I weren't curious to see how the twins got their revenge, which was a strong enough reason for me to be on book 5 now I guess. If you have Kindle Unlimited I say borrow the first book and see how you feel after the first few chapters and go from there.

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I have a quick question. I know that the deadline for the BOM points is a month after the start date, but is that just for the participation (answering 3 days of questions) or do you have to finish the book before then too? I'm about 3 chapters away from finishing the 3rd day for the Wildfire BOM so I am going to read those before bed and then answer the questions when I wake up, but I'm wondering if I have to finish the book before the 22nd. It will be possible as there won't be much of the book left, but I would like to know if I need to rush.

Here is the replacement:

Cerberus

Cerberus has decided to take a jaunty run through your lands before returning to the underworld. He's very hard to defeat, don't let those 6 puppy dog eyes fool you. May want to bring some milk bones and tennis balls.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book where a funerary celebration/service takes place.
3.) Read a book with MPG Music.
4.) Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
5.) Read a book that is #3 in a series.

Here is the replacement!

Polyphemus (Cyclops)

Polyphemus has been seen on your lands, searching for a new optometrist. Maybe he can be pacified with a good recommendation for an in-network doctor. Very hard to kill but can be distracted with sheep. He loves his sheep. Also, might distract him by discussing what a complete dink Ulysses really is despite his fame.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that takes place on an island.
3.) Read a book where a character engages in some sort of trickery (your interpretation).
4.) Read a book with sheep AND people on the cover.
5.) Read a book whose MC is a farmer.

They are both on KU as well. Does being a sheep rancher count as being a farmer?

I can probably get to one of them at the end of the week if no one finds anything else before then.
