Oh, I liked it too. Quite well-written, full of twists and suspense. Haven't continued the series, but it is on my never ending tbr :D

Truman Capote: In Which Various Friends, Enemies, Acquaintances, and Detractors Recall His Turbulent Career

Eni | 2349 comments Not only did the 3 of us got positive and we were all sick last week (i still have a very stuffed nose and my voice is still messed up and we all still cough a bit, but generally are fine and the little one is back to school) but yesterday we had to say goodbye to one of our little furbabies. Simba, our 16 year old cat was having kidney failure. He stopped eating and drinking. We took him to the vet and he had his mouth full of ulcers. He stayed overnight and yesterday afternoon we got a call saying his lab results were very bad and the chances of him getting a full recovery were very slim. One of his kidneys was at less than 50% capacity and the other one was full of cysts/growths that could be tumors. We had to make the though decision of ending his suffering. It's been awful. He was my sister's cat, but they both came to live with me and the little one 6 or 7 years ago.

I don't mean to make anyone sad. Just venting i suppose.

Eni | 2349 comments @Keli - The Travelling Cat Chronicles isn't on your tower shelf. Would you mind putting it there please?

@Teresa - Phoenix Reign isn't on your tower shelf. Would you mind putting it there please?

Also i've been doing changes on the planning spreadsheet, so it's normal to have things a bit different. I put all the read books on the official spreadsheet and hid those rows to make it easier to search things.

Shan ~A~ | 856 comments I apologize. I thought I was going to be able to long in every night while I've been out of town for my daughter's commencement ceremonies, but we've been so busy that this is the first time I've had a moment and that's only because today is the last day (official graduation day) and we'll be traveling all day tomorrow to get back home.

I'll be home tomorrow night, and get back up to speed by Sunday evening.

I decided to read Oliver Twist because I was going to see the musical, but I didn't finish it in time. So I finished it this morning. Both the book and the musical were very good.

Eni | 2349 comments I had to read a book for the maze challenge that was one of 2018 nominees on GR choice awards. Ended up choosing Skyward because it was the biggest I could find that sounded interesting.

I was pleasantly surprised! It was really good. It reminded me of "top gun" meets "starship troopers". The MC had a little woe is me attitude, which is why I didn't give it 5 starts, but other than that it was really good.

message 180: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 1813 comments I'm sorry about your cat, Eni. I'm dreading the day we have to say goodbye to my currently 18 year old cat so I can imagine how you must feel.

Time seems to have gotten away from me the past few days. Mostly because I am currently looking after a mother cat and her two very young kittens. My boyfriends mum helps out at a cat shelter and somehow we got roped into looking after them, not that I am complaining. They think the kittens are only about 2 weeks old and they haven't even opened their eyes yet. But they also think the mother is wild so we haven't been able to get close to her or the babies yet, fortunately she seems to be trusting me a little more now as she doesn't watch me constantly.
I think the idea is that we will keep them for about a month and help raise and tame the kittens so they can be rehomed and maybe see if the mother can be tamed as well as she still seems young herself.

I'm going to do my best to try and get a couple of books finished in the next week.

Shan ~A~ | 856 comments Thanks everyone!!

We finally made it home after driving all day through thunderstorms. I'm so happy I could kiss the ground in my front yard. We just unpacked the vehicles prior to me logging on, but the rest will have to wait until tomorrow.

We had a blast. There was a ceremonies Tues - Friday and I got to take my nephew (3 yrs old) to the zoo for the first time while there. My daughter was happy to finally see the penguins because the last time we were there we only got to go through half of the zoo.

This was all in St. Louis by the way. My oldest daughter graduated from Washington University with a degree in both English and African American Studies.

I'm happy and proud, and tired.

Now I only have 1 left in college, and 1 left in high school.

Keli | 1321 comments I have added a book to the spreadsheet but haven't shelved it yet. I only put myself fown for four books a month, so at the end I'll remove the ones with the least value to our team. If that's okay? If i do it the other way around and shelve them i might forget to remove it.

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I was wondering if a librarian here could help.

I have these books: Kelpie's Ruin and Kelpie's Ruin which are the same book just different editions with separate listings. Can they be merged? The second book has no page listings but Amazon pegs it as 298 pgs

Also Dragon's Woe which isn't attributed to the series listing https://www.goodreads.com/series/2985.... It was previously released as Slay Bells but was edited and expanded to a full novel.
