What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read several books by the same author between 2004-2010 that were fiction, about the jungle/rainforest and maybe one took place on an island? They were a similar vibe to Nim's Island. They weren't a continuous series but all were by the same author. The author's name was something memorable- she had a unique last name. I am fairly certain that the author was female. The books were paperback and had colorful cover art with trees/animals/nature. The cover art was painted/drawn, not photographs. The cover of "The House on the Cerulean Sea" reminds me of the cover art of these books.

Thank you in advance for this! I am trying to find books for my middle school cousin to read this summer. I feel like the name of the author is on the tip of my tongue but I just can't remember her name!
