Nightmares and Dreamscapes discussion

I’m Dan. Big horror fan, but I also love thrillers/mysteries and occasionally dive into sci-fi and even memoirs. I moderate a horror group on Goodreads that has something in common with this group: it’s also named after a Stephen King book. We are called The Night Shift. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Robert McCammon, Joe Hill, Dan Simmons, Blake Crouch, Kealan Patrick Burke, Grady Hendrix and Gemma Amor. Thanks for the invite!

Oh, and Dennis Lehane. I’ve only read like 5 of his books so far, but I’ve really enjoyed them all.

Hey, I'm new here, I've been trying to get back into reading outside of my studies this year, my favorite genres are horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Recently I have been focusing on both pulp fiction of these genres and the Radium Age of Sci-Fi (1908-1944) pretty much everything of the modern era up to the dropping of the atomic bomb, this era interests me in particular due to the nature of speculative fiction at this time being farfetched while rooted in the ideas of how science could progress at the time. Particular authors I have interest in are Stanley G Weinbaum, H.P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Rice Burroughs, though I will be open to any kind of recommendations that you guys are willing to give. I look forward to any discussions I will participate in and hopefully this will help me read more.

Hello, all! I'm Indra and stumbled on this group by looking through my friends' groups and thought I'd join. I love horror (been reading it since I was a kid) and a bit of sci-fi. I also like stuff with a dash of historical fiction so find myself attracted to a lot of gothic and also some thrillers. Basically, anything suspense! (insert ghost emoji here)

My name is Caity, and I try really hard to not make my whole personality about ~books~ but I'm failing miserably, and every surface in my apartment is taken over by paperbacks (or plants), with 2 cats who love to sleep on top of them or knock them out of my hands when I'm sucked into a story and not giving them enough attention.

My go-to genres are horror and fantasy, but I like a broad range of books, and occasionally indulge in some romantic fiction if I need to get out of a reading slump. :)

Today I shall listen to their albums in your honor as I've yet to see them in concert and would for sure love to attend one with you one of these days! LoL the only band I've seen the most is the almighty SLAYER 6 times, including their "final campaign" tour back in 2019 at Madison Square Garden before everything shut down in 2020. That's the last concert I've attended due to this damn pandemic \m/

Slayer!!!! Nice! I'd love to see them! We have usually gone to a metal festival every year but Covid put a stop to that. Fingers crossed for next year!

@Sally: YES! Sadly, Slayer is no more as they officially retired in 2019. The rumor is Kerry King is moving onto his own new band featuring Gary Holt, Paul Bostaph, and the legendary PHIL ANSELMO of Pantera on vocals. LoL it's basically still Slayer just with a new singer as Tom Araya is 60 years young and after 40+ years of thrash, wanted to retire already. It was even up in the air for them to do one last album but they did (Repentless) under the condition they'd retire/do a huge farewell tour.

LoL I don't blame him since Slayer has been all over the world, released a ton of albums, and has made such an impact on thrash metal. I hope Kerry King's new band happens since I love his guitar work but we'll see. I bet if he does drop a new album with this band, it'll probably happen either end of this year or early 2023... hopefully!
