Kaje Harper | 17365 comments Post your nominations for our March 2015 AotM here:

Authors must have released at least 2 YA LGBT downloadable or paper books or short stories. Please include the following:

Author name - Ideally with a link on Goodreads or to their page elsewhere

2 or more relevant book titles of theirs - ideally link on Goodreads - just titles needed, although you can add a little description if you like

Why this author? - at least one sentence about why you picked this author for the poll. (Authors please do not nominate yourselves.)

A maximum of 12 nominations will be posted per month. We will vote on one author to discuss. Lets see if we can help each other find new favorites.

This month's nominations open through February 26 midnight EST.

The poll is now open - https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1... - voting will go through midnight March 3

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments D.H. Starr for Wrestling with Desire. Cautionary note: D.H. Starr also writes adult-oriented m/m romance and has only 2 o3 YA titles.

Wrestling with Love the sequel, is more NA with some sex content. What other YA does the author have?

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Brent Hartinger forGeography Club. Most of his stories are YA and deal with the ups and downs of being LGBT in high school.

If Wrestling with Love, which I have not yet read, contains sexual content, then scratch the nomination. Just one YA story would not qualify the writer for AOM.

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Geoff Laughton for Under the Stars.

All 3 of his novels are Young Adult, and it appears he is the inspiration for Andrew Grey's "Farm" series.

I think it's Andrew's YA pen name.

Kaje Harper | 17365 comments Matthew J. Metzger

His YA trilogy Vivaldi in the Dark, The Devil's Trill Sonata, and Rhapsody on a Theme are an excellent look at the intersection of love, coming out, and clinical depression.

I wondered, but could not verify by any outside source.

"In addition to being a fictional character and running a horse farm in Michigan, Geoff is the proud Husband of Eli Hennington and father to Jakey. For more information check out his entire life story in the Farm series of novels by Andrew Grey."

It could be take either as a wink and a nod to using a beloved character as a pen name or it could mean that Andrew Grey got permission to fictionalize another writer's life story. I just could not find outside sources to verify, and so took it at face value. Silly me.

Geoff Laughton is indeed Andrew Grey.

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments And now that I know that little open secret, I think I'll borrow the idea to give myself a LGBT YA penname as well. I'm just not sure which character from my one published story or writing challenge stories to pick.

Kaje Harper | 17365 comments It is a cool way to link the two :)

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments I totally agree.

Jay Clark (jaydclark) | 488 comments Perhaps, I wait until I have my characters in my LOR story named, and name them with this added purpose in mind. =)

That's a thought. Find a name you can enjoy keeping...
