Julia Tilson (juliatilson) | 29 comments I have just self-published with KDP through Amazon. I am considering enrolling in KDP select next month, but looking further ahead, I am also considering distributing through Kobo and Google Books. Just wondering if any other self-published authors also use a combination of these platforms? I am a Canadian author.

Which self-publishing paths did you choose and why? My book is currently available in print and as an ebook.

I haven't used a combination of platforms yet, but I'm planning on it. You can't enroll in KDP select if you're published on other platforms, so I'm not enrolled in it.
I'm planning on publishing through KDP, Barnes n Noble Press, and Draft2Digital. I chose KDP for amazon, Barnes n Noble Press for wide print book distribution, and Draft2Digital for wide e-book distribution.
I'd highly recommend checking out Bethany Atazadeh's videos on youtube, in particular her video titled "Where I self-publish my books, why I chose these companies, + How I juggle all of them". She also has just a ton of videos with lots of helpful information for self publishers.
I hope your journey in self-publishing goes well!

Julia Tilson (juliatilson) | 29 comments Thank you, Abby! Yes, I won't release to other platforms until after I'm done my 90 days in KDP select. I'll look through those videos, also. 😀

Helen Gould (helenclairegould) | 130 comments I got out of KDP as soon as I could. I though it was crazy that you couldn't have chapters out there as samples, even on your own website (that may have changed, as it was in 2014 that I put my first book up) because how else do you give readers the chance to find out if they like your writing. I am still on Kindle for my e-books, but my books are published short run. I intend to post them on Kobo, B & N, Lulu, and maybe Smashwords as well. I believe that D2D distributes to a lot of libraries as well as B & N, btw. Hope this helps! <3
