I own a copy of Gone (Gone #1) though it doesn't appear to fit in my view of 'action' books... lots of books on the shelf, I wouldn't have necessarily put there?

Wow! I have read a whole lot of the first page!

Some that are on my TBR:
Jurassic Park - been avoiding this book for a long while
Steelheart - a rather short book for this author (<400 pages)
Echo Burning - a Jack Reacher book I own
Eldest - another book I own and this one is planned for JRI
Heist Society - previously planned for a challenge
Uglies - planned for JRI
The Three Musketeers - a classic I haven't read

I will probably do one of the JRI books, although I am intrigued by the Brandon Sanderson book.

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1513 comments I will read Dark Matter as I need it for a challenge in another group. If I manage, I might squeeze in either Storm Front or The Lies of Locke Lamora.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1224 comments Once again, I've read many of the books on this list.
I will go with Into the Night or maybe Silence Fallen.

Most of the small number of books I haven't read on page 1 are either Harry Potter or Percy Jackson books. I did find Crown of Midnight (the 2nd in the Throne of Glass series) there, though, as well as several from the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child I've been considering.

Does anyone have any suggestions pro/con about Jack Reacher? Usually I prefer mysteries that don't really fit the "thriller" shelf.

Otherwise, I might go for Sandstorm or The Inside Ring.

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I thought i would have a lot of options on this shelf, but i don't really. I might go for UnSouled or Watchmen

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Susan, I liked the first 3 book of fJack Reacher but did not finish book 4 because the main character started to annoy me. The books are about an exmilitary guy. There is some violence in the books. I think the books are more thriller than mystery. I don't recall a mystery element in the books

I read Dark Matter when it first came out and it was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As for Storm Front, that is my favorite series ever. I may re read it for this month.

I really like the Jack Reacher books, but then I like thrillers and read a lot of them. I think the character of Jack Reacher is fascinating. The only thing is that the stories can get a bit graphic at times.

The action shelf has always fascinated me. I find that I file very few books to that shelf in general. I think it must be because I am usually looking for books that are mostly action based vs. books of other genres that have a lot of action in them. Most sci=fi, fantasy and urban fantasy books have a lot of action and I would expect to see quite a few of those on the list. A few of the books on the list that I have really enjoyed are the books of the Dresden Files series, the Dan Brown books, and The Princess Bride. As for me, I am considering:

The Nowhere Man, which I have had on my TBR for quite a while.
a re-read of Storm Front just because I like Harry Dresden so much.
Timeline
The Chase by Clive Cussler

Not sure...We'll see what I end up with.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 1279 comments I was surprised how many books I read that fit the action genre.

Beverly Reid | 120 comments I have a few on my TBR, but will be reading Starsight! I've read the first book in this series and own this book.

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments I also read a lot of books from the first page! Maybe I'll read

Storm Front
Nevernight

I could also read
Blue Moon Rising
Daughter of the Pirate King
Burn for Me
From Blood and Ash

Nice to see this shelf is up! It was one of my nominations.

Shannon (merrychristman) | 26 comments There are several on my to-read list, but I plan to read Warcross because it was the first one I found in my library's catalog that didn't have a hold list! (It's on my to-read list because I read an article that said it was similar to one of my favorite books, Ready Player One, which is also on the action shelf.)
