Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments 9000 books. Alot of them arent love triangles but are really poly.
I found one at about 20 pages. The Best Man.

Are you in Shannons team! If so you could pick a book off of her shelves.

message 103: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I can't help you Lisa. Those were the appropriately named lists and shelves. I don't audit the lists :)

Option 2 must be looking good!

Angela (Reading Frenzy Book Blog) (asullivn) Is there a way to search the Love Triangle Shelf? There are 8,953 books shelved there! I'm not a big fan of love triangles but I think I found one I can work with (Here with Me). It's clearly a love triangle & other readers have shelved it as such, but I don't know if it's on this official "Popular Love Triangle Shelf". Help! :-)

Nichole | 1010 comments If you have a specific book, it's easier to search that books shelves. From the books main page, over on the right where the genres are listed it says 'see top shelves' (at the bottom of the genre list). Click on that and hit Ctrl+F and type in your search word. It narrows it down quite a bit!

Anyways, I found a shelf listed as Love Triangle Hell for that book.

It's on page 7. I don't know if there is an easier way but I look through more shelves in the book page to see what it's been shelved as.

message 107: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1010 comments Oh yeah, it's been shelved 21 times as Love Triangle. By the way, when searching for a shelf make sure you put the hyphen in, lol!

message 108: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments Jane,
I thought if the book is on the shelf specified it qualifies, whether the relationship was two couples or poly.

that was my understanding as well.

So if a book has been shelved by any user it would qualify? Just clarifying for future reference?

And thanks, Danielle! Looks like I'm all set for this week now. :)

message 111: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1010 comments If it's on her list of optional lists/shelves it's automatically approved. Regardless of being mishelved or not.

Other lists have 'optional' in front of them simply to help people. I won't question books that come from those lists. But you can also choose books that fit the theme via the blurb, through bookshelves or other lists not provided. You just need to state how it fits and where the information came from.

message 112: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments But this is not an optional list theme. It must come from her lists. But one list is the Love-triangle shelf

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Teresa wrote: "But this is not an optional list theme. It must come from her lists. But one list is the Love-triangle shelf"

Yes, since it must come from those list of shelves, if it is on the shelf, then it qualifies.

message 114: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments I made a list for myself as I went through the giant, 9,000 entry shelf, of books I might want to read for this challenge and what page of the list they're on. I noted a handful of M/M titles, and I'm happy to share the info if anyone is still looking. (Note: these aren't *all* the M/M titles on the list by a long shot- just the ones I haven't read yet and was open to reading sometime in the next few days.)

message 115: by Nichole (new)

Nichole | 1010 comments I just wanted to apologize for mucking things up with my 'helpfulness' , lol. My internet went out right after the theme was posted and then when it came back I got distracted by the lists. So, I didn't even notice the "For this week, you MUST select a book from the theme's lists/shelves included in this post" part of the announcement. I'm an idiot sometimes. Sorry!

message 116: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments If the book is on the mandatory (or optional) lists/shelves in the theme post it qualifies whether it meets the theme or not :)

I'm pretty sure this is in the Q&A post/s but I'll make sure it is updated if not...

(On my phone at the moment.)

message 117: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments And just to be clear, if you search a specific book's "genre" aka shelves and find it shelved as "love triangle" by a user, then it's on the mandatory "love triangle shelf" since that is just every single book ever shelved as "love triangle" if I understand how it works correctly.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Week 4

Option 1 Theme:

13. A book with a title starting with 'P'

Option 2 Key Date:
14 November 2014

Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads.

***

Remember team captains, all your members should have posted last week's theme (by 6pm US EST today). Everyone should have completed at least one book by now.

I'll be going through all the threads tomorrow, but please PM me today if you have any team questions. I'll be on my phone :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Another early post - I'm off to a horse sale and wanted to get this off :D

I'll be monitoring this thread on my phone for questions as well.

Elizabeth (elizabeth_greece) | 1918 comments Thank you, Jane for the early announcement!!

message 121: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments Do we count "The"? For example, would "The Princess Affair" work as a P title? Goodreads seems to skip A and The when alphabetizing titles, but I know not all organizational systems do.

message 122: by Margaret (last edited Apr 10, 2015 02:33PM) (new)

Margaret | 354 comments Becky, I think that we do ignore words like "a" and "the" when looking at titles. In most other challenges, that's how it works.

message 123: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Yes, obviously Jane has the last word, but I don't think I've ever had a challenge in this group that doesn't ignore them, except for title word counts, and often those can go either way...

message 124: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments Thank you, ladies! That helps.

message 125: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Ignore the 'a', 'an' and 'the' in titles where applicable.

After driving 3 hours, I'm now watching baby horses being sold (for training in camp drafting and other stock-horse disciplines) :D

Aw bummer. sorry Jane!

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 731 comments Doesn't it blow your mind to see that much money spent on a horse? Our drill team helped out with a local sale a couple times a year and I got the pleasure of seeing a two year old QH stud sell for almost $500,000. He was gorgeous and has some amazing bloodlines, but I kept seeing a house (a NICE one), or automobiles for the rest of my life, or feeding a small country, or....

message 137: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Totally Becky!!!

Wow - $500k is ludicrous. All it takes is one accident/ fence break and they can't compete.

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 731 comments Right! It's a world that I can't comprehend.

message 139: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments There was a question in one of the team threads on whether they can see the overall progress of all the teams.

I keep a spreadsheet that tracks each team's progress in a very simplistic fashion. I generally start posting in the last few weeks of the game so that everyone can see where they are at comparatively, but I'll start put it up after I've gone through all the threads tomorrow after the theme call :)

I'll post a link to a google spreadsheet in the first message in the Q&A thread down the bottom:
