You can use it Fran since it is on that shelf - it just has to meet the 100pp minimum :)

That's all fine Sadie.

You can't be behind by more than 2 books when I announce a new theme - it doesn't matter from which weeks those books come from. Following on from that, it means you can finish a week 8 book before you finish your week 6 book (for example)...

You need to post your selection book each week before the next theme announcement no matter where you are with regards to completion posts.

So just keep reading your books in whatever order, and get your selection post in for this week :)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1064 comments I have a quick question - Can we change what book we want to read after the next weeks theme has been called? ie I pick book x for week 5, week 6 is called, I then decide I want to read book y for week 5. Can I change this or do I have to read book x?

No, you can only change your book within the week that theme is called. Once the next theme is called, you can't claim the pass or change your book.

message 206: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Thanks Kat. That's right Teresa - you are locked in to your selection once I call the next theme :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Week 9

9. Bookcover - Tattoo on the bookcover
This is all about the cover - please post the bookcover in your selection post. If the tattoo isn't obvious, you'll need to point it out to us.

Option 2 Key Date:
19 December 2014

Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Soon :)

message 215: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments Jane, this is the penultimate week right?

message 216: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Week 10

Option 1 Theme:

4. Select a book for your team-mate from their TBR (You can create your own shelf for this theme, but only one shelf can be put forward for your team-mate to pick from.)

To be absolutely clear: your team-mate is selecting the book that you will read for week 10.

Rules for this week
For transparency - please post your preferred shelf for your team-mate to pick from.

You will still put up your selection post with the normal format - it's just that your team-mate selected that book. Please note in the selection post which team-mate selected that book for you.

Team-mates - post the book in the thread with your team-mate's name next to it. No particular format is required.

Given team-mate absences, one team-mate can pick for more than one other member (eg Calila can pick for both Shannon and Amy if the other members aren't around.)

If you missed the initial excitement - post your shelf and ask a team-mate to come and pick a book for you once you hit the thread.

Captains - could you please ensure that everyone's has a book selection? That is, no-one is waiting too long for someone else to pick :) Thanks!

Option 2 Key Date:
26 December 2014

Remember: Next week is the last theme!
Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads.

Fran | 12279 comments Hi Jane!
How do we decide which team mate picks for which other team mate?

message 218: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Calila wrote: "Jane, this is the penultimate week right?"

Next week is the last theme call...

message 219: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31683 comments Jane, is there a minimum number of books that has to be on a designated shelf? Since it is towards the end of the month, I have fewer options remaining than I would have had two weeks ago?

message 220: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31683 comments Also, do we only have one teammate pick for us? So we wouldn't just say have everyone pick for all the other teammates and then you just select from one of those?

Bet you didn't think this was going to be hard?!

message 221: by Calila (new)

Calila | 2746 comments So this isn't a "Every teammate must pick for one other teammate and only one" thing?

message 222: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Just one member to pick for you, but if there's confusion between picking that's ok.

Let's say a minimum of 3 books on the shelf :)

Up to the team.

Some teams are just rotating through their initial team member notice in post 1. But it's up to you :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Calila wrote: "So this isn't a "Every teammate must pick for one other teammate and only one" thing?"

No - due to absences, I don't want another member waiting around if someone else can pick for them...

I believe you have the summer holidays around the corner, hence stopping just after your long weekend or whatever you have/had... That's how we've timed it.

The next one will start in September I think. Sign ups in August :D

Glad you are all enjoying the game!

message 234: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 1096 comments Okay, I was looking over previous questions asked. And I want to be sure I got it. One of my teammates has learned that she's not going to be able to read the book she selected because stuff came up. Can she change from having a selected book to pass since the next theme hasn't been announce?

message 235: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11359 comments Yes Amy, that's correct - as long as it's before the next theme is called, she can take the pass. And remember, no passes on the next theme since it's the last one of the round!

message 236: by GreenFairy (new)

GreenFairy (greenfairy429) | 1096 comments Right. I remembered about the last week but I wanted to be sure. Thank you for answering quickly. I'll let her know so she doesn't have to worry now.

message 237: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Thanks for answering Amy, Karen :)

message 238: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Remember this is our last theme announcement coming up!

I will let the teams know in that post which teams' members they can use for Option 2.

You cannot use the Pass option in our final week, and your Option 2 will be chosen from the teams that I post for you tomorrow. ...You can of course, use Option 1 :D

message 241: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited May 29, 2015 03:36PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Remember - if you use Option 2 (selecting from another team's shelves), you still need to quote:

Please also quote that other team's name.

Both Me Before You by Jojo Moyes Tall, Tatted and Tempting (The Reed Brothers, #1) by Tammy Falkner are 4 star reads.

I am going to listen to the sequel Smart, Sexy and Secretive (The Reed Brothers, #2) by Tammy Falkner as book 1 ended in a mini cliff hanger. Plus I didn't cry like in Me Before You.

message 249: by Becky (new)

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments OK, I just want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly.

"Q: Can I add books I haven't read to the Romantic Suspense shelf? Is there a group guideline for adding to the shelves?
A: Yes. You can add books you haven't read to any of the RRRC shelves where eligibility is clear eg. YA, shapeshifter, sci-if, audiobook, etc. If you aren't sure, don't add it."

The book I want to read is not on "Best Gay Romance With A Character(s) Who Has A Disability" (or any of the other approved lists), but it is on the very similarly named "Gay Romance with an MC who has a permanent physical or intellectual disability" list. Can I add it to the "Best Gay Romance...." list and then use it for this challenge?

message 250: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments No - if you needed that book and it fit the theme it needed to be added BEFORE the theme was called. You can't add books to the lists while the theme is active.

Sorry Becky :(
