We Are Legion (We Are Bob)
question
Similarities to the World Out of Time by Larry Niven

I have really enjoyed the "Bobiverse" books by Dennis Taylor. They were my introduction to self-published Science Fiction which, I read a great deal of now.
I have always considered how We Are Legion (We Are Bob) shares some similarities to a book by Larry Niven, A World Out of Time. Niven is more famous for his Ringworld series and books set in the Ringworld Universe called "Known Space". A World Out of Time is set in a different universe than Known Space.
In both books, the protagonist is frozen cryogenically, Bob (Bobiverse) due to an accident and Corbell (A World out of Time) due to terminal cancer. Both characters are "revived" in the distant future. Bob is brought back as a "replicant", essentially a bodiless human consciousness transformed into a computer program. Corbell, has his consciousness implanted in a criminal's body, who instead of being executed had their mind erased. Through different events both protagonists start interstellar exploration, Bob, as a Von Neumann Probe, able to replicate himself, and Corbell as pilot of a ship capable of interstellar travel.
At this point the stories diverge into ultimately very different plots, but I just have always found the similar background intriguing.
Thoughts?

I've read all four books of the "trilogy", and will read any more that come out. I love all the Star Trek references. They take me back to the beginnings of halfway good TV science fiction, and so much fun!
