Ioana (ioanatrifu) Hey everyone, my name is Ioana (or you can call me Jo, it's easier), I'm a 21 y.o. film student with a passion for books. I'm rather new to the mystery/ thriller literature, but I definitely find it intriguing. I'm currently reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Invisible Man, and last week I read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which I enjoyed. Any recommendations based on this examples?

I'm glad to be part of this group!
Have a nice day everyone,
Jo

Joseph DiFrancesco Welcome, Jo!

Bill Hi Jo, welcome to the group. You can get many excellent recommendations by checking out our Group read thread and also just checking our bookshelf link. I have also enjoyed many of the Sherlock Holmes books and found Dr. Jekyll quite different from what I expected. I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Krishna Shah | 1 comments Welcome Jo,

There are some great authors in the mystery/thriller field. Here are a few suggestions:
**For Sherlock holmes may I suggest Laurie King's Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes series.
**for a good adventure: Steve Berry.
**for good mystery: Kathy Reichs, Michael Connelly, Linda Fairstein, Jefferson Bass
**for spy/thriller: Daniel Silva

I could go on and on...but a good start in the genera.

Wendy | 581 comments Welcome!! I like your true name Ioana! I have discovered SO many "new" authors since joining this group. I am not a Moderator, but have been sort of trying to revitalize this Group's USA and UN Book Challenge without being pushy. I have learned SO much about different states, countries, and writing styles.

Hey Wendy, thanks, I like my name too(although not so much when I was little), but it's usually hard for foreigners to remember the spelling or say it, so Jo is the easy option:). I've been procrastinating for the last week or so, I just focused on reading, but I'm eager to get involved in this group, discuss with others, etc (as much as I can, I haven't read a lot of mystery, thriller books). And I agree, books and book talks can help you learn more about other countries, or cultures. :) Thanks for the comment, have a nice day!
