Here's the thread for The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand

The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand

Plot: Adrienne Dealey has spent the past six years working for hotels in exotic resort towns. This summer she has decided to make Nantucket home. Left flat broke by her ex-boyfriend, she is desperate to earn some fast money. When the desirable Thatcher Smith, owner of Nantucket's hottest restaurant, is the only one to offer her a job, she wonders if she can get by with no restaurant experience. Thatcher gives Adrienne a crash course in the business...and they share an instant attraction. But there is a mystery about their situation: what is it about Fiona, the Blue Bistro's chef, that captures Thatcher's attention again and again? And why does such a successful restaurant seem to be in its final season before closing its doors for good? Despite her uncertainty, Adrienne must decide whether to open her heart for the first time, or move on, as she always does.

Infused with intimate Nantucket detail and filled with the warmth of passion and the breeze of doubt, The Blue Bistro is perfect summer reading.

This sounds like the perfect way to kick-off soon-to-be-summer reading!

Who's in?? ;-)

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) | 1817 comments I don't know how anyone could work in a restaurant, it seems SO stressful haha

I don't know why but I really like Fiona, and I'm interesting to hear back story on why she is so tough and has so many walls up.

Lea (leaspot) | 3662 comments I agree about working in a restaurant. I'm not sure it is better at a posh restaurant like this where they serve rich people who know they are supposed to tip but also expect you to VIP them every single moment. I know I'd get fired for saying something. And I'd like it on record that I think Mitzie Kennedy is the *worst*!! I might even hate her more than Doyle Chambers.

I liked Fee a lot in the beginning too, but as the story continued, there was some stuff that happened that really bugged me. And I couldn't get over it. But I hope you both can! :-)

Denise (derickert) | 1270 comments I started this last night and I am enjoying it so far. I have made sure that I have eaten before I pick up the book because I can see why you would be hungry.

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) | 1817 comments Doyle Chambers is far worse. Nothing worse than a whiny entitled man haha

Denise (derickert) | 1270 comments I just finished, gave it 4 stars. I fell in love with the main character Adrienne from the beginning. The story left me craving the food that they were describing in the book. The ending however was too abrupt and just leaves the reader hanging.

Lea (leaspot) | 3662 comments I'm glad you enjoyed the book Denise! I was so hungry reading this book too. I agree about the ending, it was abrupt. And I guess I didn't like the romance between Thatcher and Adrienne. I have a best friend that is a guy, known him since we've been two years old. Besties from diapers to diapers, and all that. Maybe because of that, I simply could not understand why some of those common issues were not better communicated. Thatcher and Fiona were both to blame for making things awkward for Adrienne, especially at the end. And Thatcher never once put Adrienne first. Adrienne wasn't very understanding, but they didn't try to help her understand either. I was bored with the romance , but I kept reading for the food descriptions, they kept me salivating. :-)
