hello guys, hope you are having a good time, I would like to participate in this buddy read, if yo haven't started it, this will be reread for me since i don't remember anything and i have to read the finale.🙂

How do you guys feel about moving the date to later.. like 24th-25th?
yes definitely, welcome Yegi!i'm definitely happy to move the date... i'm currently swamped by ARCs and school work, so i'm happy to move it even further if you guys want, because my life will be insane until the 7th of june or something. hopefully Laura's library hold will come in soon, but i'm happy to wait until she can get the book if the rest of you are also okay with that :))
I'm happy to catch up later if others want to read earlier, mine says should be any time in next 2 weeks. I'm first in line, I'm guessing it got delayed but will let know as soon as I have it and can go into begin if June if need be 😊

Its always the case, I did put in for it in mid april so i was surprised it still said outstanding as I was sure I'd have it in time. Then got the message this evening to say its available 😂
If you guys want to move this (sorry I haven't been on the last couple of days), I'm game for it. I did start reading it and am on chapter 21, but since I own the book, I can stop and restart it at any time....

Sadly I don't think I'm going to be able too either, I'm in a bit of a slump anyway and my library card glitched. I went to see if get sorted, but they were not sure what issue was either as it just wasn't linking with overdrive and libby. So its been reset for ebooks and my books disappeared, im at the back of the list again... Very annoying.
I haven't started this book yet as well. I've been waiting for you all actually :)
I've been really enjoying it - very full of intrigue and betrayal and surprises and, of course, more very bad people.
Ahh oh no, that’s so annoying Laura!! Well given none of us except Leslie (glad you’re enjoying it though!) have started yet, maybe we can all hold off a bit until you have access to the book again, Laura? How long do you think it’ll take for you to be able to access the book again? I, personally, also have a really busy week this week, so it might be better for me to push back on starting this as well😅
Yeah very annoying I think it had something to do with my having an acocunt through covid online first and then got card - they must have not connected. But noone really knew, so sadly just had to reset. At least hopefully shouldn't happen again.It could be anywhere up to 4 weeks, im currently 2nd in line. 😂 I may see how much it is though and grab a copy next weekend? If others want to start, as I know been pushed back so much now. Very sorry xx
Ahh no, that’s such a pain :(( glad it’s been fixed now though!! Hopefully you have no more issues with it :)). Let us know if you end up buying a copy/when you get access! I probably won’t start until this weekend as well, but yes the rest of you can definitely start if you want :) and sorry Leslie, you can definitely feel free to finish without us!

I've fallen into a slump and I am struggling to find motivation for books at moment. Already got a bunch challenges and such I need to tie up ends in which taking me a bit. Just think i need to take a break with some other interests and hope to come back to soon.So while I'm getting this book soon I don't feel will be able to commit to a buddy read and already held everyone back. Will be interested to see what you all think and I'm sure I will enjoy in the future, when I find myself back in books. Thank you for waiting on me! Xx
I am almost done with the book (on chapter 45). I probably will finish this today, There are SO MANY betrayals in this book. And Ramson's family is just so.... bad, dysfunctional, messed-up. And without spoiling it too much for everyone still near the beginning or have not started, this does not deter the relationship blossoming on slow burn between Ana and Ramson. I am wondering where the relationship will end up at the end of the book, and I know I will looking to get the final book in the series (there's no way this ends cleanly for this book).
So except for dear laura H that won't join us for the buddy read, has anyone else started or going to start the book anytime soon? I wanted to but I'd like to wait for you guys.

and... is anyone else getting some vibes from Seyin? Like he feels like a love interest? Or is that just a lot of books have romance and they have a character like this that ends up being a love interest that I'm just automatically thinking he'll be one?
okay, never mind, after chapter 5, I'm feeling that maybe they could end up being friendly, after Anna sees and understands his pov, and he understands she's not like the rulers before.. well much.. because all the blood is not that positive.

@mina Hahahaha yeah I just started too and even though I read book 1 at the same time as you I also don’t remember how it ended😂😂
spoilers for ch 1-7@mina LMAOOOO I can see why you’d get love interest vibes from Seyin, he does fill that tall dark & rude trope that YA authors love (I say that like I’m not an absolute sucker for it hahahah) but yeah… after finishing chapter 7 and having him stab her, I don’t think they have any chance, not even of being friends😂. I know she’ll survive (we only just started the book), but damn that was darker and more shocking than I expected… I thought it’d be Ransom behind her.
Anyway, I’m enjoying getting back into this world! I love that the author has shoved us straight into the political debate about monarchies, the author always manages to make me really think about these things, and brings up the big questions. I love having an MC that doesn’t just have one direct goal and never changes her opinion and is just always right about everything!
Definitely wasn’t smart of her to get into that fight on top of the stage, but I guess it worked out in the end. Still… you have to pick your battles sometimes.
Can’t wait to read more!

chapter 1-7about seyin, I get y'all 😂 the first book was really obvious that ramson would be the love interest within the first chapter, and i still think you should keep on to him (as i remember until last year) i wouldn't keep my exception high for a new love interest?? nah😂 specially when Ana feels stabby stabby 😊
ana can get really hot headed sometimes and acting rationally, I kinda don't like it in her. i also like seyin's idea, honestly who can believe another affinity girl claiming this is my kingdom, help me get it back. i would have definitely feel like seyin, and also purpose to change the monarch COMPLETELY. but it's a really hard task to begin with. And not with the way seyin is going on. But ana needs a plot to prove herself good.
I really wanted her brother to live 😔

Well... from the first 7 chapters we see that not only Ana is stabby stabby 😂 I agree on her hotheadedness not being something I like. When we put it like that... I'm on Seyin's side 😅 kill the royals. I'm curious to see how she'll do with her mission to have a changed for the better monarchy. Although the for the better is a subjective thing and there sure are going to be people that are against something either way.
I won't be reading day 2 today, because I want to start other books too, so I'll try and catch up tomorrow 🤞
Yeah I definitely think Ransom will be the number 1 love interest haha, and Ana is def a bit stabby stabby sometimes, but I also think she’s growing as a character… maybe. We’ll see😂And yeah I’m interested in seeing if she ends up becoming empress or not at the end of the series! I kinda hope not, I hope they dumb the monarchy, but we shall see…
end of ch 14Welp… ransom did NOT get the right message from shamaira’s painting😂 he really figured Ana was safe and on the way whatever that golden city is called… and meanwhile, she’d been stabbed and was bleeding out😂 but she made it! If we can say anything about Ana, we can say she’s tough. I wonder how Yuri will act, and if he knows about seyin…
Also yay linn!! She’s alive, and she’s reconnected with that yaeger much faster than expected… they’re both so cool. He’s definitely a love interest, but that doesn’t mean I trust him, because I still think he’s a bit suspicious. But I think he’ll go down that path where he sets out to initially betray someone but end up falling in love and joining the cause… we shall see. I definitely think he’ll be an important character given he’s shamaira’s son (!!!!!) and I really hope they’re reconnected soon!!

wow I totally have forgot about linn and his love interest pov, she is definitely interesting, and yep, not to be trustful at first sight is and understatement
Ramson has gone from Kaz Brekker wannabe to crusader for justice! that's a real development though😏
also, this is one of those books that the two main characters will be separated for some part in this book, so it's a little frustrating until we see them reunited 😅

ahh yes i hate when main characters are separated, it stresses me out😭 but i'm actually doing alright with this book. hoping to read more soon!

I haven't moved from the 7th chapter 🙈😅 I planned to read yesterday aaaaaand then I got hooked to a kdrama so...yeah, we know how that goes.

Just finished ch 21 and yes I agree Yegi, lots of cheering for that particular reason haha but not a whole lot of plot. I’ll continue the next section now! Also enjoy you kdrama, Mina😂 not surprised by your sudden 7 episodes haha, sounds like you😂 don’t forget to sleep
spoilers for end of ch 28Welp ransom is home! Not that that seems like a good thing haha. His sister is so freaking crazy and mildly terrifying… I know she’s been brought up badly, but MY LORD she’s messed up haha.
Though I did love seeing ransom and Ana defend one another… I wish we got more of their romance, they’re such cuties.
I’m so mad that Kais doesn’t know that Ana and stuff are friends with shamaira!! I really wish everyone would be on the same page about everything for once haha. But at least Ana knows about ransom’s dad now…
I’m interested in seeing how this alliance goes, and what’s up with the king and supposed queen regent. Also this scholar scribe dude?
Also is it just me, or did the king kind of give the same vibes as the people that Ana’s aunt (I’ve blanked on her name) did her mind control thing on? I know it can’t be her across the ocean, but it’s still interesting… hmm.

When you said there's going to be the torture of the MCs being separted for some time.. I thought it would be longer 😂 this is not much.
I moved the dates on the schedule to know how behind I am.. good news, now I'm behind only 2 days 🥳 Just finished chapter 21. I agree, nothing much has really happened, I guess that's what happens with 2nd books. If nothing else I still like the writing, it's easy and fun.
@mina Haha my girl, you’re obsession with Seyin is a little bit concerning because I don’t think he’s that big of a character😂 he might make another appearance but he definitely doesn’t seem major haha.
And yeah the icewolf was definitely cool and I think new!

chapter 21-35okay here i am, i probably will finish this book by tonight, it's a really tricky book, bc the chapter are kind of short, when i start reading i can fly through them, but it's not like I'm really finding it enjoyable
the alliance, oof, none of the sides are trust-able, but Ana has to find people on her side, because what's she supposed to with herself only?? how can she raise her kingdom again😅
Lol @Mina seems to have fun looking forward to seyin, i agree with you, evil love interest is really cool, though the author seems to have none of this in mind, it's all your head-canon only😂
I don't have anything particular to say, i guess the last parts are when things really heat up, so i wait for that part.
