I was attracted to the idea of trying something new that I had not considered doing. I had participated danceathons and walkathons, but not a readathon. Same kind of intensified enjoyment.

I keep coming back because I enjoy the intensified effort of reading a short list of books within so short a time period.

I like this, too.

Also, it's like we're all involved in a great big game together, all around the world - one that involves my favourite pastime.

Right: with the help and encourage and joy of other readers.

Yes, exactly! I love that it's kind of a game and a challenge that requires me to do what I enjoy most!

Rosalind | 53 comments I participate in lots of film challenges so was eager to try a book one. Like others have said it's a fun connection with other readers around the world when reading is so often solitary.

Susan | 986 comments I love the idea of clearing a special space in my life for a whole day of reading, and that’s what attracted me initially. What keeps me coming back is the reading plus, as others have said, the connection with other readers who are also tackling the Readathon challenge.

K.L. Middleton (theunapologeticbookworm) | 32 comments I like the fact that the readathon is condensed into a 24 hour period. I've participated in a lot of week/month-long readathons, most of which required me to focus on a single genre, and I sometimes find that I get tired of reading the same type of book for that long.

Julie Wakefield | 46 comments I love that I can dedicate time to reading. I read a lot anyway but my husband let's me do this. ;) And I love seeing everyone who shares a love of reading and books.

Film Challenges? That sounds like fun! Where can I find those?

Susy (susysstories) | 2288 comments For me it’s definitely the connection to others, knowing that you’re working on this “project “ with so many fellow readers all over the world. And in April the renting a place in the woods with a friend, we just read, snack and take strolls while listening to our audiobook 💜
