I feel sorry for Warner, too. His father is horrible...But so is Warner.
I think the author did such a great job getting into his head and bringing him to life.

Finished. I enjoyed getting to know Warner a bit. But I'm glad this was a novella. His constant pity party was getting on my nerves, lol.
Yes, I can't imagine having a father or mother like that. I think that is part of the reason why Warner so identified with Juliette. I do understand why Warner is the way he is but I still don't like some of his actions. Warner did try to slyly help the "traitor's" family but that backfired when his father found out. Part of Warner wants to help I think but he is always thinking will about his father and what will his father say or do.

This is why I love doing buddy reads with you. You notice things I don't. I never thought about the way Juliette and Warner grew up with similar parents. They both just wanted approval.

Thank you. It goes both ways. You bring up things I have missed or didn't think of. Buddy reads are the best. Yes, they both just wanted to be loved and feel like they matter. While Juliette and Warner both had parents that are evil, Juliette didn't allow that to make her a monster. Warner on the other hand, trys to live up to his father's standards. I think Warner believes that Juliette is the one that can love him because they have been though some of the same things.

Thanks, you too!

Finished. I enjoyed it. I'm glad we got this insight to Warner. Here are my favorite quotes:
“These letters are all I have left.
26 friends to tell my stories to.
26 letters are all I need. I can stitch them together to create oceans and ecosystems. I can fit them together to form planets and solar systems. I can use letters to construct skyscrapers and metropolitan cities populated by people, places, things, and ideas that are more real to me than these 4 walls.
I need nothing but letters to live. Without them I would not exist.
Because these words I write down are the only proof I have that I’m still alive.”
“My mind is a warehouse of carefully organized human emotions.
I lock away the things that do not serve me.”

Description:Perfect for the fans of Shatter Me who are desperately awaiting the release of Unravel Me, this novella-length digital original will bridge the gap between these two novels from the perspective of the villain we all love to hate, Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.
In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of. . .
Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.
Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.
