Zain and I will be reading Chasing the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar from May 13 on. You're very welcome to join us!

I read it when it was first released, but I am looking forward to the discussion.

Well, I’m starting my reading of Chasing the Boogeyman. Will not be reading as fast as I am capable. Am also reading a few other books.

Me too, Zain, I had tried to start this book before but wasn't able to get into it. It was too much childhood memories... I'm guessing it's building up to something and hope I can make past it this time.

The nostalgia pretty much stays the entire book, but at least lessens a bit as the "current" events take precedence.

What I loved about the book is that so much of it is factual, Chizmar really grew up there, many of his memories are real, but then he tosses in so much fiction that the lines become blurred. It does a good job of making it feel like you are reading a true crime.

This was a fantastic read and hope you all enjoy it! I loved it :-)

Yes, Kandice, the "true crime" vibe definitely comes through with some of the reviews I've read. (99% positive it seems.)

I’m also dragging my reading, right now. The book has been so boring. Reading about his childhood. There better be a reason for it, that makes it worth it.

I’ve changed my opinion. I’m at 48% and I can’t put the book down. It’s gotten so good. I have to find out who did it.

It started off slowly, but it’s picking up its pace. I have become addicted to it.

It's good to know it picks up pace, there is light at the end of the tunnel then, after all.

I'm finally catching up, I finished yesterday and I'm sorry to say that this isn't the book for me. I wasn't interested in the narrator at all, so there were too many memory elements that slowed down the reading for me. I don't read any true crime at all and maybe that was it, I don't know. Still, thanks so much for this buddy read and the encouragement everybody, I don't think I would have finished it on my own!

@inciminci: Awe, that's okay as it happens! That could be why but I hope your next read is better, my friend :-)

I also don't read any true crime! I think the reason I liked this was because I've become familiar with Chizmar over the years so it was fun to try to sieve the true from the fiction!

@Kandice - I absolutely see how that would add to the reading experience. I don't really know Chizmar and only recognized Cemetery Dance in the book.
