We all know how this works by now. Any questions just ask!

Themes:

1. June 8th is Name Your Poison Day. Pick books with apothecaries, taste testers, etc. Or pick books with alcohol or desserts on the cover.

2. June 17 is Take a Road Trip Day. Pick books with road trips or travel of some kind.

3. June 21 is National Selfie Day. Pick books with a face/faces on the cover.

I'll sit out and let you two pick for each other this month. If either needs or wants more though let me know.

Laura ☾ | 873 comments Alright! @elena anything in particular you’re in the mood for?

I’m as usual pretty open to whatever but bonus points if it’s on my TBR already

message 6: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Laura I've tried to pick the books from your TBR :) As for me, this time I want preferably epic fantasy, space opera, cozy mystery or something super funny.

1. June 8th is Name Your Poison Day. Pick books with apothecaries, taste testers, etc. Or pick books with alcohol or desserts on the cover.
Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton - technically there are no apothecaries, taste testers or desserts in the book, but I think it's somehow fits the theme of the prompt and actually at some point this summer I'm also going to re-read it.

2. June 17 is Take a Road Trip Day. Pick books with road trips or travel of some kind.
Steelheart (The Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson - I don't remember whether this book has a travel part but the series definitely has. It's not as good as other Sanderson's books but it's very unique and pretty interesting.
The Dragon's Promise (Six Crimson Cranes, #2) by Elizabeth Lim - the first book was interesting and I think this one is going to be better with all the quest part and the dragons...
The Last Magician (The Last Magician, #1) by Lisa Maxwell - not a typical travel but time travel and a very interesting book and the series.
The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses, #1) by Cassandra Clare - oh this book is one of my favourite! So good!

3. June 21 is National Selfie Day. Pick books with a face/faces on the cover.
I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston - I didn't read a description, reviews, I just know that its super-hyped now and am afraid to try this one. Though I really want to hear your thoughts on it if you choose the book.
Boss Witch (Fix-It Witches #2) by Ann Aguirre - I love the concept and the covers of the books in the series and maybe it's going to be a nice fun easy read.
Blood Like Magic (Blood Like Magic, #1) by Liselle Sambury - one more witch book and the description is great, I think you should try it.

Laura ☾ | 873 comments Oo thank you! I already read Boss Witch and it was cute!

I think I might go for Shara Wheeler because I am curious

For you, here are my picks:

1. June 8th is Name Your Poison Day. Pick books with apothecaries, taste testers, etc. Or pick books with alcohol or desserts on the cover.

Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder - fantasy series that involves a taste tester!

2. June 17 is Take a Road Trip Day. Pick books with road trips or travel of some kind.

Furiously Happy A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson - this actually made me laugh out loud in parts!

Book Lovers by Emily Henry - I loved this and it does involve travel - might be my favourite of Henry's and it definitely had its funny moments!

Aurora Burning (The Aurora Cycle, #2) by Amie Kaufman Aurora Burning - you must continue this series and it is kind of space opera and involves travel

Cytonic (Skyward, #3) by Brandon Sanderson - same as for Aurora Burning!

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1) by Amie Kaufman - this series is unusual in its mixed media format but also a good one! and kind of space opera-y and involves travel

Let me know if you need more!

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Laura let me know what you think about Shara, I'm so glad and excited you've picked this one!
Also thank you for the recs. Now I'm lost, I want to read all the books from the list 🤣. Sooo... let's decide! I think I'm going to leave Furiously Happy for the time when I really need a great portion of happiness. I don't have Book Lovers and Cytonic now and don't want to buy more books. It leaves Poison Study, Aurora and Illuminae... I'll let you know when I start one :D Really, so hard to pick!

Poison study gets my vote! Love those books
Furiously Happy also made me laugh out loud too. Didnt like her other book though.

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I decided to go for Aurora first :) And I'm such a strange person, yesterday I decided not to buy more books and bought 6! How is that even possible?

I feel that too!! Happens too often the I am not going to buy any more until I read some I own. Ooops I went to the book store and left with 10

message 14: by Laura ☾ (new)

Laura ☾ | 873 comments I finished Shara Wheeler - it was enjoyable but I'm not going to be raving about it. I kind of enjoyed the side characters more than the MCs!

message 15: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Laura it's great you've enjoyed it!

Laura ☾ | 873 comments @Elena - how did you get on?

@Brittany - are we not doing these anymore?

message 17: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Laura shame on me! Haven't started yet. I've been too busy in June :( and I think this summer is going to be very busy for me.

But I want to continue doing PIFM :)

Absolutely! Glad you checked in, shows me there's still interest. I'm going to try to get on a little more again. Life has just been a good kind of busy lately.
