Perry Lake | 10 comments All men know the Legend of Dracula. Since the publication of Bram Stoker's novel in 1897, the name of Dracula has inspired terror.

Between the death of Vlad the Impaler in 1476 and the events of Stoker's novel in 1890, there lie four centuries. During that time was he lying in his coffin, just waiting for Jonathan Harker to show up?

No way.

For thousands of years, European vampires were mostly bestial, ravening brutes, hiding in moldering graveyards. Upon his awakening, Dracula establishes a new bloodline, raised from those of noble bearing and ruling temperament. These would rule his Kingdom of the Night.

They're all here: the master wizard, Dr. Faust whose magic skills are required to bring Vlad Dracula back from the dead and force him into servitude. But Faust's heart has been captured by a simple flower-girl, Gretchen.

And there are more: The Countess Addhéma, a vampiress who found upon rising that she could not feed on blood.

The Countess Erzsébet Báthory, reputed to have practiced witchcraft and bathed in the virgin blood of the maids she tortured and killed. Upon rising as Dracula's bride, she sets about enslaving other supernatural creatures, that they might do her bidding. What happens when they turn on her?

The courtesan Clarimonda, a beauty who belongs to the powerful Marshal of France—but Dracula wants her too!

The Countess Mircalla Karnstein, better known as Carmilla. The finest beauty of Austria, she captured the hearts of all who beheld her. Dracula saw her, wanted her—but so did the brave and determined Baron Vordenburg.

Mortimer Varney, a common brigand enslaved for all eternity by the Lady Sarah. Can he achieve Dracula's goals?

Slobodan, the son of Dracula, wished only to use his abilities to make a little money. Will Baron Vordenburg be able to save him from the curse of Dracula?

The beautiful Lenore finds herself on a ride with Death! Will the Danse Macabre save her—or damn her forever? And what happens when she meets a brooding young American poet who promises to immortalize her?

The Countess Ulrica Dolingen—what chance does she have when she's desired by both Dracula and Carmilla?

And what mad creature sets Jack the Ripper on his infamous murder spree?

They're all here in the first four books of this series. Plus Dracula's battles against the sinister Chi You, the loathsome Viy, the enchanting Nycea, the scheming Erlik Iblis, the brutish Torbalan, and more.

Perry Lake | 10 comments It's WORLD DRACULA DAY! Yes, this is the 125th anniversary of the publication of Bram Stoker's immortal novel, DRACULA—and the first World Dracula Day! All over the world, there will be tours, lectures, movie screenings, and parties.

And what better way to celebrate than checking out my series which begins with the infamous life of Vlad the Impaler and leads up to the pages of Stoker's novel? Unlike some recent pastiches, my books respect and remain faithful to the original work.
