Fran | 12278 comments We will be reading Brandon's Laughter and An Adventure In Beginnings for our March m/m buddy read.

Both are free! Come join us!

Breann | 398 comments Yay! I think these will be cute.

MountainKat | 31601 comments I read Brandon's Laughter today - loved it! It made me teary at times, made me laugh and was very sweet! So glad we picked it!

message 4: by Dawn (last edited Mar 03, 2015 08:48PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn I have previously read An Adventure In Beginnings and really enjoyed it. It was a sweet slow building romance between older guys. We don't see many that explore this age range. Even though it was short, I felt like I had a whole experience with them.

I plan on reading Brandon's Laughter.

Fran | 12278 comments I read An Adventure In Beginnings and I agree with Dawn, a sweet romance that builds. I really liked it.

message 6: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments I finished An Adventure In Beginnings EARLY this morning. I thought it was sweet too - a nice beginning to a love story. Definitely simple, but very enjoyable. I liked the other one better though, it touched me more. Probably should have read them in the reverse order...

message 7: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments I read both books today, and enjoyed both very much. I thought both did a very good job of creating real, fleshed out characters that we could care about, even though they were both very short. I did like Brandon's Laughter a little better I think, it had more of an emotional pull. My only (very minor) complaint about it was I thought it ended rather abruptly - I would have liked to see a little more at the end, an epilogue or something. I agree with everyone else that An Adventure In Beginnings was very sweet, and I enjoyed reading about more mature characters, something we don't see very often.

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Brandon's Laughter and it was really good! I really liked both Brandon and Richie, and that song at the end.....awww

Breann | 398 comments Awesome! I can't wait to get to them. Hopefully, this weekend.

I was teary too!

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments Hey guys! Since the M&G signups just went up, Kat and I were chatting and wondered how the rest of you would feel about picking books a little earlier than usual, and picking for the next 2 months instead of just next month so we can put them on our M&G lists. it wouldn't need to be right away, but before the M&G signups close. What do you think?

message 12: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments You know I think it is a good idea! =P

message 13: by Fran, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Obviously I still have to read our March picks ;) Hope to get to them by next weekend...

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments Does anyone have any ideas for the next couple of months? The only freebie I have on my radar I know at least some of you have already read (You Get Full Credit For Being Alive).

That was a good one!

Here's a couple more. I don't think any of us have read these:
The Idiots' Tango
The Lonely Drop
Treasure

message 18: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments Any of those sound good to me. I don't have any really on my radar except the upcoming Cut & Run book, but I know Fran doesn't read those anyway.

message 19: by Dawn (last edited Mar 14, 2015 10:09PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn These are the ones highest rated stories from Love's Landscapes that I've haven't read yet:

Bird Meets Cage
Guarded
The Court of Lightning
An Old-Fashioned Love Song
A Point of Honour

I read You Get Full Credit for Being Alive, Treasure and The Lonely Drop. I liked The Lonely Drop most.

message 20: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn I read Brandon's Laughter and I did enjoy it. I would have liked them to get back together sooner, but it was a nice read.

message 21: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments I finished both last night and they were really good.

I wish there was more couple-time in Brandon's Laughter. Just a few more pages would have been nice. I was still a blubbering mess, nonetheless.

Adventure in Beginnings was so super cute! I really loved it and would have (again) loved a bit more length.

Great picks this month!

Breann | 398 comments Are there any DSP freebies we all have? I'm pretty sure I have all of them from the last tweetaway.

Have you read The Idiot's Tango? It has pretty high ratings. And it's tagged as GFY & YA & Sports... ;D

message 24: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments I got a lot of the last round of tweetaways, so most of those would be good choices too. I will say, I'm not opposed to paying now and then for a book either. It is great that we use the freebies, but not always a requirement - at least for me. =)

I don't mind either. But how do we even begin to choose one? LOL

message 26: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments So, so true!!

message 27: by Dawn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dawn I have not read Idiot's Tango, it looks good.

From DSP, I have Not Just Friends and these that are 2nd in series so maybe not good for everyone, Wrestling Demons and The Only Guy

message 28: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (last edited Mar 15, 2015 09:21AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments I have no problem buying a book occasionally either, but I actually really like that we use the freebies from the m/m group. There are so many wonderful reads out there that I know I'd never come across otherwise! That's not to say I think we should limit it to exclusively those, but I'm happy with that being the main focus...

As far as the books that have been mentioned so far, I haven't read any of them, so any would be fine with me.

message 29: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Should we go with The Idiots' Tango for next month? I don't think any of us have read it.

That sounds good to me Breann!

Fran | 12278 comments How about An Old-Fashioned Love Song for May?

message 32: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments Both sound great to me and I'm really glad we got it together before M&G and PIFM!!

message 33: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Works for me!

message 34: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments Works for me, too...both downloaded and added to my M&G shelf! :D

message 35: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I've just finished Brandon's Laughter.

I didn't love it as much as the rest of you. It was an emotional short story that hits the spot at the end but was a little confounding at times during the early/mid-section. (view spoiler)

message 36: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Happy with both those books lined up for next month and May :) Have put them on my TBR...

message 37: by Breann (last edited Mar 30, 2015 02:17PM) (new)

Breann | 398 comments Somewhat random question for you ladies... have you listened to Cut & Run in audio? Are they good? I want to reread soon-ish and am thinking about doing it in audio.

I enjoy them. Sean Crisden reads them - can't remember if he's the same narrator all the way through to book 5. No audios past book 5 though :(

message 39: by MountainKat, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

MountainKat | 31601 comments I think it is him in all the books. I enjoyed them too and really wished the audiobooks continued after that.

message 40: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments I like Sean Crisden. Can't believe they stop at book 5, though!

MountainKat | 31601 comments Had to do with the change in publishers, still stinks.

message 42: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments The new publisher - Riptide - put out book 5 but they won't do any more... :(

message 43: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I finished An Adventure In Beginnings earlier - still 31 March in your time :) 2.5 stars. The whole story felt rushed where a little more time would have produced a more cohesive and readable story. I like the plotline, but there wasn't enough substance for me...
