The available editions of The Vicar of Bullhampton:

Project Gutenberg (various formats available): https://gutenberg.org/ebooks/26541

LibriVox (audible format): https://librivox.org/search?q=the%20v...

Kindle version on Amazon (this was free when I clicked on it): https://www.amazon.com/Vicar-Bullhamp...

I am personally using the physical edition available on Amazon, the CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform with 588 pages. I am not advocating for that edition; it is just the one I will be using to determine the reading schedule.

Here is the reading schedule:

Week 1: 6/5 - 6/11 -- Chapters 1-6
Week 2: 6/12 - 6/18 -- Chapters 7-16
Week 3: 6/19 - 6/25 -- Chapters 17 - 26
Week 4: 6/26 - 7/2 -- Chapters 27 - 36
Week 5: 7/3 - 7/9 -- Chapters 37 - 44
Week 6: 7/10 - 7/16 -- Chapters 45 - 53
Week 7: 7/17 - 7/23 -- Chapters 54 - 63
Week 8: 7/24 - 7/30 -- Chapters 64 - 73

Since I'm publishing this a little later in the week, I've reduced the number of pages for the first week's reading to about 50. For every week following, it will range from 73 to 80 per week. This book is rather hefty! I hope that works for everyone. I will post the first discussion questions on Sunday, June 5th, but please don't worry if it takes you a little longer to finish the first section due to a late start--you have all week (and beyond) to engage in the conversation!

Ginny (burmisgal) | 287 comments Only 50 pages longer than Villette. Which I am still trying to finish. Fortunately, I have read The Vicar quite recently, so will just review as I participate. Mr. Trollope is my favourite.

I'm so glad to hear that! This is my first Trollope and I'm so excited! He has been on my tbr for years but somehow I have kept moving others higher on the list. I'm glad to finally get started on his large catalog of works!

Rosemarie | 330 comments I've read Trollope's two series and a few standalones. I'm looking forward to reading this with the group.

Pamela (bibliohound) | 96 comments I’ve just started this and am looking forward to the discussions. Trollope is my favourite Victorian author, this will be my 8th novel by him.

For some reason Trollope is not resonating with me very much, so this time I'll try an audiobook version. :-)

Diane The free Kindle book from the link provided offers the opportunity to get the audiobook for half price—I’m loving this read/listen. Gives me the opportunity to make notes if I want to.

Paul Weiss | 101 comments Do you know if there is any way to change the notice for this group read discussion on to individual e-mails while leaving the notice for the balance of the Victorian's group set to digest??

If you go into your account settings under "Emails" there are various options on how to get notifications. Now I don't know if they work in sync or not. I only do notifications on the webpage.

Now there is a workaround. If there is a new post you want to reply to at a later time, you can scroll up and on the right side there will be a link to "mark unread" this will leave all the new posts as "new" until you revisit them.

Hope you enjoy the book. This one is new to me, but I've read about a dozen of his now and enjoyed them all

ConnieD (bookwithcat) | 37 comments I don't think I'll have time for this one (and I'll admit I'm not a Trolloppe fan). But I will check out the comments people have.
