Angela literally, my fav book but I love crooked kingdom better. I literally am in love with Kaz because there is a line in books, where they're evil and you hate them, or when they're evil, but they're so evil, to a point where it's great and you love them.

Samadrita Same... Crooked Kingdom was my favourite... especially because of the great character development. We see Kaz becoming so much more than just "another Barrel boss"....Jesper's overcoming his gambling addiction.... Matthias had a huge lot of character development too... overcoming his prejudice... and... well..we saw.. Wylan turning into a badass too. Plus the layers and depth of every character.....this duology is definitely the best thing I've ever read

Angela Right!? The character development was great, and they are all so awesome. The depth in every character was so rich and it all made sense.

Samadrita Exactly.... everybody is shown to be so lethal and dangerous....but when you think about it.... they're all actually so vulnerable from inside. However my favourite character was Inej. Remember...all her dialogues in Crooked Kingdom were so badass? Especially the "what about the nobodies and invisible girls" one. Freakin loved it

Angela Inej was so badass, and she had so many good lines and quotes. Like when she was like "She was Inej Ghana, and she would not quiver like a rabbit in a snare." I love all of her lines plus I love Nina. Nina was the baddest bitch of all time and I loved it. Also, I've been reading reviews of SoC and Crooked kingdom and the reviewers keep saying there were too many s*x scenes of inappropriate scenes and I was like did we read the same book??? And they keep saying Kaz and Inej should've kissed but I disagree bc they were both traumatized and they didn't kiss bc of that. If they did, it would've ruined everything.

Samadrita Yes....Nina of course....our Waffle Queen 😂. I loved the personality of Nina...her flirty and "I don't give a damn" nature.... but how deep down she does care...a lot.
But my goodness.... who the hell said that about "inappropriate scenes"? Are they serious? Well... on the other hand, a lot of people I know were complaining about the lack of "steamy scenes" 🙄 . And you're right...Kanej kissing wouldn't make any sense. Their relationship was more about these extremely strong feelings for each other... even yearning...yet being in denial-- and not about physicality. I think that's what makes Kanej so special.

Samadrita Oh and trust me...no amount of smut scenes I've read ever made me feel the way Kaz holding Inej's hand without gloves... or him holding Inej with his arm (after she almost fell after seeing her parents) made me feel.

Angela All Kanej moments were so special bc it showed there love for each other without physical movements. I loved when they were on the ship and they were talking, and he was like I want you, I was freaking screaming. Loved when they held hands and it was so sweet. Yeah, a lot of people were complaining about the lack of steamy scenes, but I thought it was perfect how Kanej played out. Honestly love all the couples, cannot choose favourites lmao.

Samadrita I agree. We cannot choose between couples. Honestly...as I had read the Grisha trilogy earlier... I didn't have much expectations about the romance, since I wasn't very much invested in the couples of the Grisha trilogy... except perhaps David and Genya (loved them). But in SoC....god....the romance is god tier.

Angela My friend recommended SoC to me, and I read the first chapter, and since it wasn't a pov in the main 5 (can't believe the author didn't include Wylan's pov and I feel bad cause I didn't even notice till I finished), I was so bored and didn't understand what was going on. I told her I didn't want to read it, and she was so upset, but said okay fine but read the Grisha trilogy. I was like okay. But she said that SoC was better and I trusted her and read it. I'm so glad I read it first, even though I didn't really understand Grisha and the trilogy is the Grisha kinda explanation series, SoC was more interesting and if I read the trilogy, I wouldn't expect much from SoC and not enjoy it a lot. Also, have you watched the show?

Angela This is a portion of the review someone made:

This book is a wish-fulfillment trope-fest packed with ableism and misogyny. The setting of "Six of Crows" is a modern pornographic imaginary that equates death with sex, feelings with weakness, and ignores basic human psychology in favour of a James Bond-level action tale. If you enjoy modern/gonzo pornography, James Bond movies, and "Fifty Shades of Grey," you will probably love "Six of Crows."

I'm sorry, no. How did they equate death with sex? Brothels in Ketterdam were a big plot for the story as Inej and Nina were both sold into brothels, and because of that Inej is now traumatized. I am so confused on how they can compare Fifty Shades of Grey to Six of Crows because they aren't even related and this book was not modern pornography so I don't know what this person is even talking about.

Samadrita Yes.. I agree that the starting was kind of slow for me too ...(too many new terms in the first chapter itself puzzled my damn mind) but as I had read the Grisha trilogy earlier, I could grasp it a bit easier. Oh and about the PoV of Wylan... I wondered that too ..but in the collector's edition of CK I read in the author's note that in the first few drafts of SoC, Leigh had penned a few chapters of Wylan.. but it "felt all wrong" at that time. Later she realised that it was because Wylan had yet not become a crow. And yes... I definitely have watched the show and fell in love with it... especially the perfect casting of the crows. But the absolute fan favourite of the show was Milo I think 😂

Samadrita I'm pretty sure this person didn't understand a single word of that book.. and instead used some fancy words to construct his/her review. Like... what? I completely.. completely agree with everything you said. I honestly didn't get the comparison with fifty shades at all... or where death has been equated with sex. Yes I agree... Matthias initially did show misogyny..but that was never supported in any way...rather if anything...the book actually showed his change... how he gets free of his initial prejudices hammered into his brain.
And I truly didn't get the part with ignoring "basic human psychology" either.
Did this "review" make any sense?

Leona (taylor's version) This book has everything. It has mystery, suspence, romance(kinda),sadness and comedy.
I love it so much. It is one of my favourite books I have read this year.

Six of Crows is like Mistborn Trilogy but weaker. Both has amazing crews but Mistborn better, more differentiated. Both groups have similar goals but inMistborn are more difficult. The Mistborn' plot is far more complicated and the characters are more lovable, e.g. Vin wasn't a harlot and they both (Vin and Elend) are really good couple. The thing between Inej and Kaz shows that Kaz has some problems with himself (based on the first book, I haven't read the second yet). But both novels 5 stars from me.

Same thought.

Adithiiii Honestly this duology might just be the best series I've ever read. I legit love everything about it

Jamya I would say YES because of how little intricate details are explained super well and immerses you into the story. You get super attached to characters that you relate to and admire their changes throughout the story; Matthias for example had a very big reflection about himself and battled his old mindset of what had been instilled in him as a little kid. But the changes in these characters are realistic, they don't change overnight which makes you relate to them even more. I personally do like Crooked Kingdom better and how Kaz's plans were amazingly thought out and explained in wild portions throughout the story to give you a basic understanding. But nope, the plan was completely different as you imagined, but how he planned things out came to be better than expected. Crooked Kingdom ended with a sigh of relief and was very satisfying to me but left you worrying about Nina. That feeling of worry gets resolved as you follow Nina in the next King of Scars book. I love this book so much and I can tell this was written with care.

Judy Hossam Eldin THESE BOOKS ARE JUST WILD! i loveeeeeedddd the evil and vicious technics they used. i loved seeing inej and kaz together honestly their chapters were soo cool. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE HELL DID MATHIASSS DIE BUT OKAY:< . i noticed that inej became kinda weaker in the second book but still, she is my fav.

Delia Tomkus Ohhhhhh the character development, the worldbuilding, the plotline, the character relations, the word choices, I just absorbed this series.
