Drace (dracenines) | 7416 comments Less of a book issue, more of an author issue, but I was told to set up a thread here.

Noticed today that the author V. Castro has two separate author pages for some reason. One of them is her verified Goodreads author page, the other has her name and several books she's written/contributed to but is not verified. Is there any way to merge the two pages or migrate the books from the non-verified page to the verified page? Pages are linked below:

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... (Official Goodreads author page)
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... (The other page)

Thanks for any help with this issue.

EDIT NOW THAT THIS IS IN THE PROJECTS FOLDER:

Here are a list of items that need to be moved from the incorrect V. Castro page to the correct one:

- We Are Wolves - the paperback edition (ISBN 9781735693644) is on the incorrect author page, but the Kindle edition has the correct author.

- Mestiza Blood - every edition is on the incorrect author page.

- Someone to Share My Nightmares - she just did the foreword for this book, but again, every edition has the wrong author page listed.

- Halloween Nights: Tales of Autumn Fright

- The Bad Book

- Rock & Roll Nightmares: Gory Days: '80s Edition Short Stories

There's also some kind of book about fast food and diabetes, but I'm pretty sure that's not the same V. Castro as the horror author. Unsure how to proceed with that.

Once the books are moved over, Goodreads Support is apparently supposed to be contacted to delete the incorrect author page. If anyone has advice on how to proceed with that, please let me know.

So would editing the author lists to replace the unclaimed profile with the correct one not be an option then? Sorry if this question is obvious or anything, I'm just a little confused about what librarians/staff can or can't do on profiles.

Scott | 8696 comments The books can be moved, but to merge the profiles requires support.

Gotcha. I think I remember I reported a similar issue a while back where I was told that after the books were moved, the incorrect (and now empty) author page would just sort of automatically delete itself.

Might need to move this thread over to the Projects folder with how many books would need to be moved to the correct profile page. There's quite a few. I'll probably make a "here's everything that needs to be moved" post in the morning to fill folks in when I do.

Scott | 8696 comments The profile won't be purged if there are followers, so this does need to be referred to support.

Drace (dracenines) | 7416 comments Alright, this thread has officially been moved to the Projects folder. For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, I've updated my original post to better explain the situation, so please take another look at that if you haven't.

Scott | 8696 comments If a book is going to remain on that profile, then it should not be merged or deleted, as it is not incorrect.

Yep.

Alison | 961 comments As the diabetes book has zero shelvings, I would guess all the followers are for the horror writer. I would move the diabetes book to a new profile and ask Support to merge the claimed profile into the default profile.

This is what I was going to suggest. They can merge the profiles and then move the other book.

I figured but wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page (ha ha). I have contacted Support for this.
