This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

It's just the perfectionism speaking out of me - so please don't sweat it. We all are human and not machines so all of us make mistakes.

Sophie | 1126 comments How are we in July already?! My winner this month looks like Crazy Rich Asians and I'm looking forward to starting it soon :)

Hope you like it as much as I did. I was laughing all the way through. You might even pair it with Jesse Q. Sutanto's great Dial A for Aunties!!

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments My winner is Black Notice by Patricia Cornwell. I've owned this one for years and for some reason just neglected to read it. My sister is an avid reader and drops off stacks of her books with me. We read them and pass them on to friends or family.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I gave up on the Kay Scarpetta books years ago.

I am going to give this one the old college try. I haven't read one of her books in several years.

Thank you. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I've seen that my local library has the e-version available to borrow so am just waiting for it to become available.
Thanks for the recommendation about Dial A for Aunties. I'm going on holiday to Greece next month so will be on the lookout for lots of good books to read around the pool! A friend of mine has just recommended How to Kill Your Family, has anyone read it?

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments Since I'm still working on my June pick ( W głębi lasu by Harlan Coben = The Woods by Harlan Coben ) I started my July book very early and finished it over the weekend:
Love Story by Erich Segal Love Story=Love Story by Erich Segal 2* 7/10 - considering it's only 130 pages it took me pretty long (eight days) and if I didn't need it for another challenge (red covers are rather difficult to find for me) I would've given up very early. I made it through but didn't like it. I'm not sure if it's the Polish translation but I struggled most with the vulgar language and the way this apparently so much in love couple treated each other.

Oh this sounds so amazing. I hope you'll have great time in Greece.
If you've not read yet The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yōko Ogawa The Housekeeper and the Professor I can recommend it very much. It's beautifully written and has an interesting premise.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Finally finished my July PIFM - Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic: Reggie, Rollie, Catfish, and Charlie Finley’s Swingin’ A’s. Excellent history of Oakland A's baseball. Finley was quite the character and so were his players. We will not see those days again.
