Nightmares and Dreamscapes discussion

I will have to check out those songs. I usually play an "atmospheres" playlist when reading. Seems to drown out the background noise and with no vocals I can still focus on reading. I can't be the only one who imagines myself singing on stage right?....right?.....

At page 268.

(view spoiler)[I like how the relationship between Hailen and the Hunter have evolved into more of a father/son thing. I am very curious to find out how the link between Hailen and the Hunter works regarding Hailen nullifying the demon in his head and Hailen bleeding when he touches the Hunter.

Although Sir Danna and Visibos pulled their "betrayal move" to get Hailen back to Vormais apparently instead of killing the Hunter. I'm all for them not attacking the Hunter but I honestly hope he fights Moradiss on this. I obviously read the first chapter but I really hope he didn't give him up without a fight first only to get him back. (hide spoiler)]

I really like the character and world building in this book. The action great and the fight scenes are brutal yet understandably so due to the emotions involved.

Ahh, the Lord Knight proves a DELIGHTFUL complication in more ways than one. :D

Misunderstandings and complications make for the best plots, I mean "I Love Lucy" wouldn't happen otherwise lol.

Ahh, that's so cool that he's got it visible on the shelf! I sent it to him when the book launched last year, but I never heard back if he got it/read it/loved it. Great eye to spot it!

Also reading on in Protector, my gosh, anytime the Hunter tries to help it seems like hard luck is right around the corner. This is how you keep a series suspenseful!

And yes, that's sort of the hallmark of this series. Anytime the Hunter tries to do the right thing, it backfires on him.

(view spoiler)["Protector" is a good title for this one. He may not be the best at it, but he has the spirit! Nice curveball with the caravan attack Andy! I'm glad there's a chance now. Although the new "villain" is very easy to dislike, I'm sure there is another pulling more strings. I like how he is buying his time on this mission for the perfect time to engage. (hide spoiler)]

I noticed that he has that too! I asked him today here on Good Reads about that. I'm curious for sure.

You'll be glad to know Book 5 (DECEIVER) is with the editor now, so it'll be releasing in September/October. Plenty more bloody adventures to keep you reading once you finish this one!

At page 562. I've been busy lately so reading time has been a bit limited.

(view spoiler)[The Hunter can't seem to catch a break. The suspense since the attack on the caravan is maddening. I'm glad he didn't fall in line with the "queen" although he did get a lot of information on his past. I thought that would make him at least follow her for a bit. I'm at the point where is is on the run again but it's not looking good. This series is nuts!

(view spoiler)[I agree with Kevin about the Hunter not catching a break - he is "always" in the thick of it - poor guy - he always finds himself in some kind of fighting trouble - either trouble follows him or he is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. lol

The biggest reveal so far was to learn about the Hunter's past and to find out that he is Nasnaz the Great.

Now that he knows who he is and learns more about himself from the past - what will he do with this information? I am curious to see how he adapts to knowing that he was somebody of importance at one time. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Talk about overcoming obstacles. The Hunter did about all of them to keep his word. As I said, Protector is a perfect title for this one. The ending is a bit sad and suspensful.
I worry for Hailen. I'd hate to see him lose his personality but it doesn't look promising.
Just like the first book this one gave us some answers but raised more questions. Hailen can heal the Hunter but at what cost? (hide spoiler)]

Anyone kept track of the body count in this one? I think it's a bit lower than ASSASSIN--maybe 150ish vs. 350-400.

I did not but I'd say it was considerably less. It fit the book better though. Especially considering the title. Less assassining and more protecting.

I did notice that there is not a pile of bodies all over the place - you did back off of that somewhat Andy. lol

There is a lot more of the Hunter interacting with people, but the fights of the Hunter are still flawless as ever. :)

LOL!! The only thing is - I wonder what is coming down the pike in future books! I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of stacked bodies later on in the series - something has to give as Soul Hunger is hungry for blood! :)

I read some more early hours of this morning - woke up - couldn't go back to sleep for a bit so I read the Hunter.

(view spoiler)[The Queen is a real winner - I feel for the Hunter as he wants to use her to his advantage but he is trying to play both sides of the line - doesn't want to piss her off (demons can get nasty when you piss them off - lol) but he really doesn't want to help her either.

Decisions-Decisions. Having a demon inside of your head doesn't help matters any either. Poor Hunter - he just can never be free to really think on his own. (hide spoiler)]

Going to try and read some more this evening to see what happens next.

So far, I believe Book 4 has the highest body count of any. But Book 3 comes in a close second. :D
