Play Book Tag discussion

Jeanette is adopted and brought up by an extremely devout mother who intends for her to become a missionary. Unfortunately for her mother, Jeanette "sins" by being a lesbian and she is forced to leave home and her church at sixteen.

I didn't expect this to be such a sympathetic read. For so much of the story Jeanette was an innocent child and it was a long time before she realised that her mother's outlook was seriously warped. The author has quite a deadpan delivery sometimes which made me laugh.

It was a 3-star read for me as well.
