Dreamer | 5128 comments Our July LGBTQ+ BOTM is Loveless! You can discuss about it here!

Rachael (dogoodwithbooks) | 40 comments How are people reading this book? I just got my digital audiobook copy through my local library.

Cass (all too tired) | 546 comments I got it from the library but zlib also has options to download.

message 4: by Laura (new) - added it

Laura | 103 comments I read it last month, so I am still planning on discussing it. I have had Book Lovers on hold at the library for weeks but it is still a long way from arriving.

Dreamer | 5128 comments This used to be on my top TBR just a few weeks ago, but right now I'm not in the mood for YA-ish books, so I don't think I'll be reading it.. but I must read it one day cause, come on, it has Aro/Ace rep!!

Rachael (dogoodwithbooks) | 40 comments I understand, Dreamer. And I’ve been trying to get Book Lovers from my library too, but all the copies are checked out in my system and I can’t even imagine how long the hold waitlist is for that book.

Dreamer | 5128 comments Okay.. I know I said I won't be reading this book during July, but... well, I might have changed my mind.. okay, time to admit that, I'm currently reading it!

Book Lovers is a quite popular book recently, I think, so you will probably really have to wait a lot!

Rachael (dogoodwithbooks) | 40 comments I know. Hopefully I come across some way to get the book without waiting forever lol

Maher I started the book last night.. It's pretty good till now!

Rachael (dogoodwithbooks) | 40 comments I've been listening to the audiobook version for about a week now. It's good and I love the writing style Oseman has in this book. I just have mixed feelings about some of the narrators used for the audiobook.

Maher I just finished the book. It's really good!! The starting is a bit slow though!

Dreamer | 5128 comments I finished this and I must admit that I'm somehow disappointed.. I probably just wasn't in the mood for YA but it seemed really teenage-ish to me. And as a person who kinda dislikes fanfiction I was a bit annoyed of how often it was mentioned. And although I am aroace myself, I couldn't really relate with all those aroace characters. Idk, I was so excited to read a book with aroace rep but that was disappointing.. 3 stars.

Eilidh Reads (eilidh_reads) I rated this 4 stars but I didn't enjoy it as much as Alice Oseman's other book Radio Silence. As someone who reads fanfiction myself, I enjoyed that part along with the friendships that the characters had. I wasn't so keen on all the drama though, some of it did just feel unnecassery and while I understood why there were so many discussions including sex it also wasn't something I enjoyed. I can understand why someone may love this book but while I didn't dislike it, it wasn't the perfect book for me. I think i may enjoy it more upon a reread in the future.

message 15: by Lily (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lily (lilyos) I was finally able to join BOTM because this one was available on my e-library! (i'm trying to save monies)

I couldn't rate it 5 because it's just not my typical pick. I read too much horror/sad junk. Also some parts were cringe, and I think may have been better set in good ol' highschool. But I really liked it.

I think just the feeling of >disconnect< really hit home for me. (Not sexuality wise, I have more issues connecting socially. As I got older I realized I exhibit neurodivergent tendencies. I need to get checked...) Like alarms going SOMETHINGS NOT NORMAL. IM NOT NORMAL . Then the difficult process of accepting your version of life.

I also just enjoy imperfect characters. Rooney gave me some Jenny vibes (forrest gump), where you hate her for what she does but there's good reason for her action? People like that exist and sometimes I feel like authors are afraid to write those characters, or that its hard to keep them morally grey? I would re-read tho, if I ever crave something fluffy.

The constant sex stuff was more than what I expected too. I do feel like general PDA would've been enough to get the point across. I did like the build up to the washing machine reveal tho lol. Not the plot twist I expected
