Such a wonderful collection of essays!

Ann Patchett shares so much of herself in this book. It often felt like long conversations with a friend.

I especially loved the stories with Sookie. And at the beginning of those, the story of how Tom Hanks came to narrate her book The Dutch House.

I loved the story of how she commissioned the painting of Maeve for the cover of The Dutch House. How much she enjoyed the thought of the moment the reader would realize the painting on the cover was the exact painting referenced in the book.

And the mirroring realization when I saw that the painting of Sparky on the cover of this book was painted by Sookie.

The whole collection is wonderful and I'm so glad I read this!

I started this and am reading it bit by bit. It is a delight!

I fell asleep while listening last night, but my husband listened to it for a couple hours (which is very unusual - he usually nudges me or turns it off) ). This morning he told me about Tom Hanks and Sookie. He really liked it!

I really liked her previous memoir (This is the story of a good marriage), once I got past the beginning.
