Many of us do a reading sprint for the first hour of every readathon. So, hopefully a lot of readers are reading for hour 1. If you are not, what are some of your favorite games for reading?

I just often miss the sprints. I often get busy with my goal-game of reading
a book by Neil Gaiman
a book by Roald Dahl
a graphic novel
a illustrated book
a YA novel
some short book (tract, essay, long short story)
a play
a shorter selection from the list of annual challenges
a narrative

I don't get to read all these everytime, but I do consciously seek out these and other types of books.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 137 comments I haven't participated in a long time so I am just trying to get back into the swing of things.

In general, I usually don't plan what I read. But this time my "game' is to try to read books to fit the tasks of my challenges. As time goes on I will probably develop something lol : )

I try to participate in the sprints but forget about them because I get busy reading.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) I like the idea of sprints, but I'm terrible at them... This time I thought I was missing the readathon because I made a huge error in time zone calculations, and decided to jump in a little late when I realized it was actually starting today when my time is mostly free!

Haha, so did I. I was waiting for it start Saturday morning, 5pm PST and go until Sunday. Oops. Well, I figured it out before start time. I had time to do some of the first sprint, but I was a little late.

Susy (susysstories) | 2288 comments Usually I participate in the first sprint but when we do the reverse readathon I'm always asleep. On top of that, I'm trying to choose what activities I participate in and which I do not. I remember the first year there were activities not only on GR but also Twitter and IG I got totally lost and hardly read anything. So now I don't participate in anything: I read and in between I post my updates on IG, Twitter and GR and visit posts from fellow readers to cheer them on. For me that's getting the most from this readathon: reading and socialising (which I think is an essential part of a readathon as I often plan all-day-reading-days for myself but without the socialising lol)
