How do you handle the hours in a 24hr readathon that are the middle of the night for you? Audiobooks? Caffeine?

message 2: by CL (new)

CL | 7 comments audiobooks mainly for me.

Katie Cat Books (katiecatbooks) | 24 comments Sleep, seriously, lol. Readathons are meant to be fun, so i stay up as late as i can, and go to sleep when im tired. Ill set an alarm for wee hours so i get some sleep in and am refreshed enough to read more.

Catsalive | 182 comments I sleep, read if I wake, go back to sleep.

For now caffeine. I probably have about an hour more of reading. Then I will nap, usually 4 to 6 hours, never more. I wake up refreshed and ready to read for more hours. I catnap as I need the rest of the readathon.

Lynnette | 324 comments I’ll sleep and then wake up and read again

Lena | 364 comments I'm hoped up on energy drinks...haven't slept yet...hoping to get some shut eye in a few hours.

message 8: by Rosalind (new)

Rosalind | 53 comments morning all, I missed the first 7+ hours as was asleep during the wee hours. Sleep is good, there's enough time for reading later

message 9: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 510 comments I take scheduled naps that still let me do the check ins during the regular ones. During the reverse, I sleep at night bc of the start time.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) Sleep! Depending on exactly which days the readathon falls on I may stay up a bit late, but being very sleep deprived does not equal fun for me.

message 11: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathepsut) | 567 comments I also spent the first 7 hours asleep, as it was the middle of the night for me as well. Having a coffee and will go grocery shopping a bit, with my in-ear headphones and my current audiobook.

Catsalive | 182 comments It's all preparing & eating dinner time for me, the wee hours are yet to come.

message 13: by Nona (new)

Nona | 138 comments Also sleep for me. For health reasons, I can't have caffeine. And I'm prone to insomnia, so messing with my normal sleep schedule isn't a good idea. I slept around 6 hours and should be good to go for the rest of the Readathon now.

Susy (susysstories) | 2288 comments Sleeping!! lol
But now it's almost midday so I'm hoping to actually pick up the pace a bit...

I switch to audiobooks when my eyes need a break. I always try for a full 24hr readathon just on principle, but occasionally middle-of-night audiobooks equal naps.
