Signing in...hi all! So many good books out in August...and I want to try and read the Booker Longlist.

I'm a little confused at how this challenge works but i'm here for the fun. Just a question - can i read any book for this challenge? or is there a set criteria it needs to match that i just haven't seen?

You can indeed read any book for the challenge! The only different thing is that the scoring is a bit different; you can get bonus points according to the pinball board (just a board that gives a random score everytime we 'flip' it), but there are no changes in what you can and cannot read!

The Booker Prize is based in the UK and they've recently announced the Longlist - it's for books written in English and published in England or Ireland.

If you go to the main thread for the challenge, the different elements are set up. A bit of reading, but you can fit most things to the categories for bonus points.

That is indeed the case for the MMC challenge, which is a solo challenge, and those points will be counted towards the total MMC points. We have 4 challenges in total in which you can participate this month, this team is for the Pinball Challenge, in which you just post your books as normal and get bonus points according to the pinball machine. Then there's the 10th MMC challenge, which is a solo challenge where you can fit your book(s) into the right category. The GBR challenge is focused on the group buddy reads, and will thus give you bonus points if you read the group buddy reads, and the non-reading challenge are things like finding the right book according to a description. I hope that clears things up a bit @Caitlin !

hi guys! sorry I haven't been sharing I had issues with my account but I finally got around the problem, I finished a few books and will be sharing reviews soon, how's everyone's reading?
^^ i'm in the same boat, but i will be finishing up renegades by tomorrow hopefully & getting my review up as well. audiobooks have been a lifesaver for me!
I’m way behind on BRs, but reading steadily.
I'm just about to finish a book I've been buddy reading and then I'll be starting another book hopefully by the end of the night!!!

Hope you’ve had fun. Is Dundee your last stop? If so,try the art gallery by the Brewdog pub. Can’t believe we picked the only part of the UK to visit that hasn’t had this mini-heatwave.
I forgot to put down the number of pages read for my book in August since I started it on 7/31. It is message 38. I read 198 pages in August for my edition (290 pages total), but the highest edition is 300 pages.

you guys are so lucky, we planned to travel this summer but financial stuff got in our way, we booked cabins here and there in our country but nowhere new -_- the sad part (which isn't sad actually) is we're planning on getting pregnant this winter so i probably won't be traveling until the next baby is two years old lmao my luck sky rockets xp

Can i ask a question - whats the minimum number of pages for a poetry book to be counted in this challenge? I read a book last month that was apparently too short?
Can you set threads for our buddy reads on the 17th and 20th ? Im using the app and it makes my life difficult
Back home - nice to have our stuff around us! Going to look at BR opportunities as a way to try and get our points up.

Aw no that's too bad! I hope you'll enjoy the cabins too though :) And love that you'll be trying for another baby, although it also sucks that you won't be able to travel for a while! But I guess you'll have something to look forward to after the pregnancy :)

@danique thanks hun! I'm not too concerned I love babies I made two in a row lol and it's fine I guess it will taste sweeter after the third kid to leave them with my mom and travel lol I'm curious are you and karen acquaintances like outside this website?

No, we actually don't know each other outside of Goodreads! We just happened to get back from vacation on the same day and happened to go the same country hihi, talk about coincidence
