For cynical twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.

Is everyone enjoying the book so far?

I'm on chapter three and liking it so far. Loving Jane but she's a bit mysterious.

That's hard but I think I would go with one of many great women in our history. Clara Barton, Rosa Parks, or someone along that line.
2. August's roommates play a made-up game called Rolly Bangs. Have you ever made up a similar game in high school, college, or as an adult?
No, I probably would have hurt myself badly.
3. Jane starts a random dance party on the Q train. Have you ever randomly started a dance party in a public place like a subway train or anywhere else?
No, but now I want to. That sounds like fun. Who wants to join me?
4. After all that you have learned about Jane so far, what do you think is really going on with her?
I read ahead so I won't spoil what happened. However, my impression at this point in the book was some kind of ghost or spirit.

Found it but I'm at hold limit for the time being.

I can't answer my reading questions yet because I'm on my kindle and limited but I just wanted to say I couldn't stop reading at chapter four. However with that being said my only interest is finding out what is going on with Jane. Not really interested in any of the other characters even August sadly. How far have you gotten Donna? I'm on chapter 10 now.

6. What do you think about August & Jane's experiments? I love Augusts little diary she is keeping and thinking Jane doesn't know about it but yeah experiments are good.


7. During Easter Brunch, they start talking about ghosts and if they were ghosts what would they want to wear for their afterlife. If you were a ghost, what you want to wear for the rest of your afterlife? oh my gosh, that is such a great question....I've always told my family I want to be buried in my nightgown so I can really "rest in peace" but after reading this story I don't know anything cool. 9. A date in the middle of the night on a subway train is not my idea of a romantic date but it is all that Jane & August can have. What is your idea of the perfect date? Well when I was younger my thoughts would have been way different but now in my and the hubs leisurely years for us me cooking a nice supper for us and settling down in the living room with him watching a show on tv with me or me reading my current read and just snuggling with him and our doggies on the sofa is awesome for us. I mean we still actually "go out" to a movie here and there and eat out but have come to find we simply just enjoy chilling out at home more now.


10. Jane tells August how her Uncle Augie died. Did you see the connection between the two or was it a complete surprise to you to find out that Jane knew him? At first I didn't put it together but around middle ways when I saw the years of some of Jane's spottings I began to suspect maybe their paths had crossed some place. (hide spoiler)]

12. Did you like the ending? Did you imagine it happening a different way? I sort of figured it would end the way it did but I must admit they had me worried there for a bit until the very very end...last few pages. But yeah I'm pleased they got to stay together.

13. Who was your favorite character and why? Jane was actually my favorite character. I found her more intriguing, down to earth, and fun. August was okay but I never really connected with her and the more background characters just didn't really have enough depth into the story for me to have liked them one way or not.

14. Would you read another book by this author? I certainly would! (hide spoiler)]

That really got me. If she isn't a ghost, what could she possibly be? Yeah, color me confused...

Well, I guess that is one way to figure things out.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want to be caught roaming around in my underclothes. So I guess, I would want to be wearing something that I liked that was also comfortable.

Yeah, I think I would want to know. I think it is harder to not know.

I am a simple gal so a picnic outside in a beautiful secluded area would suit me just fine. Nothing super fancy but good food, great company, and a great view.
10. Jane tells August how her Uncle Augie died. Did you see the connection between the two or was it a complete surprise to you to find out that Jane knew him?
I knew there had to be a connection because nobody could see Jane at first unless with August. I was surprised that he was the connection.

We went from thinking Augie died in a fire to finding out he lived for a while longer. This was a bit of a surprise.

I did like the ending but for a minute there I thought Jane actually went back to her own time. I am curious about the time gap, though. Why did it take so long?
13. Who was your favorite character and why?
Jane. She was fun and full of energy despite being stuck on a train.
14. Would you read another book by this author?
of course, it was a fun book

Very dangerous for August with the kissing. But fun other than that.

Lots of options as long as it is with the right person. Music and a starry night are always a good start.

It was a surprise, but when I thought about it, it made sense. They talked so much about Augie that something had to come of it. (hide spoiler)]

Sad twist, but not a total surprise.

12. Did you like the ending? Did you imagine it happening a different way?
Almost a bit too perfect. I kind of liked it when they drifted apart. I was almost hoping that Jane had sent someone to her. But this made more sense for this type of book.

13. Who was your favorite character and why?
Probably Isaiah/Annie Depressent. He/she was fun.

14. Would you read another book by this author?
Yes, I wasn’t a fan of the sci fi aspect but I loved the characters. (hide spoiler)]
