Did you know that every living form on this planet has DNA traces of microbes going back to the early formation of planet Earth? Did you know that the composition of your body is 96% derived from gas elements which come from Space? Did you know that the elements needed to construct your DNA come from exploding stars? Did you know that our body comes from fragments of exploding stars, these fragments finding their way in the Universe to create new planets and stars? Carl Sagan most surely did.
He once said that “we are made of star stuff.” So, in a sense we could speculate, imagine, think, or believe that living species on Earth are derived from exploded stars and dead planets. We are composed of eleven elements. Oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, calcium, and phosphorus. The remaining 0.85% of the mass is sulfur, potassium, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium.
An insightful periodic table elaborated by astronomer Jennifer A. Johnson at OSU (Ohio State University), took on the task to name which of those galactic elements are part of the human composition. Interestingly, many of these can be traced to the elements of cosmic bodies and other phenomena from outer space. Oxygen is 65% of our composition, the source of this element is exploding white dwarfs and massive stars. Carbon makes up 18%, also from exploding white dwarfs and large stars. Hydrogen is 9.5%, and it is traced to the Big Bang fusion event. Nitrogen makes up 3.2% of our body and is also derived from small star explosions. The same with Sulfur and Chlorine which make 0.2% each of our bodies.
Rays from the Sun are injected to Earth, and all that space stardust making its way to earth every single day, our bodies, slowly and steadily, keep evolving into some new form. We cannot realize now how our contexture is changing because the process to reprogram our cells takes some time. If you can live for another 1,000 years, you will then be able to realize the changes in your human composition, from head to toe.”
