The editing needed (combining/merging) aside, this is not a series according to Goodreads policy. These books are just anthologies.

So you don’t link anthologies, that seems odd to not link them to each other. Do I need to put in the other issues separately?

Goodreads also does not regard the collected works of an author as a series.

I personally think it's fine if you keep listing the issues with this "Library of the World's Best Literature" collection in this thread. But please move it to f.e. the Looking for a Project folder instead.

Not all books with the same volume number should be combined, as these books were published both as a 45/46 volume edition and as a 30/31 volume edition.

V. 1-39. A-Z.
V. 40-41. Songs, hymns and lyrics.
V. 42-43. Biographical dictionary.
V. 44-45. Synopses of books. General index.

Some volumes have the volume information in the title as volume X of Y.
Some volumes only have the volume number in the title, but a volume 5 from the 45/46 volume edition set obviously has a different content than volume 5 of the 30/31 volume edition set.
Combining the volumes 32-46 was obvious,as they are all from the 45/46 editions.
Combining the lower numbers was not as easy. Page counts fro public domain editions might not be the most reliable, but there was a strong pattern of editions with page counts in the 400's and in the 600's for editions with the same volume number, which seems to match with the volume being part of the 45/46 edition set and the 30/31 volume edition set, so I've combined them based on the page number.

I strongly suspect the editions with "A-Z" in the title might actually be single volumes (from 1-39 / 1-27) without a volume number in the title, but there is not more information to be found about these, so I've combined them with each other (since most already were combined) and left them alone.

I've also added Charles Dudley Warner as primary editor on all editions.
