These are the same authors, one profile having only Polish editions assigned to it. There is a librarian note to not combine/merge them, but is there a reason not to?

On the other hand, in the Rebecca F. Kuang profile one of the books is just a cover variation of another so those should definitely be merged.

If the name appears on one of the covers, we keep the profile.

Yes. The R.F. Kuang profile is claimed, and does not encompass Rebecca F. Kuang, which appears on the Polish covers.

Different covers should definitely NOT be merged. You probably mean combined, which Scott has done in the meantime.

What also helps is both editions getting an ACE note (in English). Since both were given the same publication date, it is unclear which is the most recent.

So I assume the latter is the later edition and should have gotten the ISBNs, which librarians cannot correct anymore.
