Sept '22 Group Read 1 - My Heart Is a Chainsaw

Saw there is a second book to this series out. Disappointed in the title of it - thought it should be something like "My Liver Is a Wrench".
Sorry... I'll show myself out. ;p

Yep! I just finished up today as well and the book's going back to the library. Sigh.
I really enjoyed it and look forward to the discussion! :-)

I tried to read it the last year given the enthusiastic reviews, but it ended up on my NDF shelf.
anyway, just the beginning, and all of Jade's blabbering is already starting to bore me bad

Like LTJ this is my second time reading Stephen Graham Jones after The Night of the Mannequin's.

I loved NIGHT OF THE MANNEQUINS, too--so incredibly unique!

That blabbering is part of Jade's character. I can see how some might not appreciate her obsession and ramblings. I loved her, maybe because there's a little bit of me that relates to her. However, not everybody has to like her, and if you're not getting used to her mannerisms, there may not be much to keep you engaged with the book. It does build suspense and tension but it's a slow progression until the latter part of the book. Don't feel bad if you decide to stick on the DNF shelf.
