rida (ridanoor) | 2 comments Hello everyone!!! I hope u all are safe and healthy. I wanted a little help with creative writing assignment for college. It's basically an assignment for those who are interested in writing articles, poetry, short stories or anything under the theme "broken hearts", so its like working as a co-author in someone's book. We are assigned to write 15 pages atleast. So I was hoping for any ideas I can get from fellow writers. I write poetry usually but I have written three novels none of them are published ofcourse but my thing is poetry, but I may write a short story on "what's it like to be a women" in a very fantastical way or simply submit a long poem like verses that I may compile. So some ideas ll be appreciated.
Thankyou!!
Stay safe.
Love,
Rida.

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Hii beautiful!
Hope you're well x
So here's some ideas
Go with your gut and heart, if you want to do poetry, go for it
Either:
Heartbreak in general
Or a heart healing after breaking
Two broken hearts coming together to heal
These can be people or metaphorical.
How nature's heart is broken over humans failing to care for nature.
About failure, how it can break someone.
False hope
I think it'll be nice to end on a hopeful tone, if you like, even if they are broken, they heal
You could take the prompt literally and talk about a heart that may be physically damaged, maybe a doctor's race to save them or maybe not lol
Hope that helped, I think I just word vomited lol
Let me know if you need anything else xxx

message 8: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Don't feel silly!
In English lessons, the teachers like these words lol
Protagonist=Character
Antagonist = Villian/ the baddie/ the one who ruins plans for the protagonistas
Deuteragonist= Second main character
Tritagonist- Third main character
Etc

for easy access pills any if taken to often or much can kill you really.
any pain killer with acetaminophen can be easy to overdose (Midol being an example), Tylenol has it too and if overdosed can lead to liver failure, so if you take any two pills with that acetaminophen then it can overdose you and lead to possible death.
Advil is also pretty deadly if taken wrong. Even Epsom Salt can be really bad for your intestines.
It also depends on how many milligrams the pill is though, obviously higher milligrams equal less pills to kill.

EDIT: gr just refreshed so I see you found something, but this can stay anyway just for future reference if anyone else has the same question

The very long label that makes you question if you know English

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments Sorry to revive a dead topic but does anyone have a good recommendation for nonlinear novels bc I think what I’m writing would be best formatted that way

message 29: by Ruqayyah (last edited Mar 13, 2023 02:44AM) (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Don't apologize! We need it to be revived!
Hmm I would say many mystery books- those clever ones do this amazingly but my mind is black, here's a list:

And this site, just remove the gaps:

Oh! Cain's Jawbone

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 22 comments I'm having trouble getting a story started. What do y'all usually do when you can't come up with a good opening?

Reagan | 34 comments Kymela wrote: "I'm having trouble getting a story started. What do y'all usually do when you can't come up with a good opening?"

If you're having trouble deciding where to open your book, like where the character should be, then I recommend looking at some of your favorite books, and see how they open. For example, my favorite book opens in a diner, so I'm opening my book in a diner.

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Kymela I usually don’t start from the beginning. I write what I know I want and the beginning will come to me

message 35: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Good tips
I'd say don't force your writing, it will come to you.
And start with the scenes you already know, as Wheels said, and your story will branch out

message 36: by Kymela (new)

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 22 comments I've already written what I can.

message 37: by Ruqayyah (new)

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Kymela I agree with Ruqayyah but tbh when i’ve has blocks like that I’ve found that it helps to just write something down knowing it’s going to be crap and then giving yourself some time to find what fits (i’m very much a trial and error person lol)

It works though lol

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments Yall I'm struggling again 😭 (I'm still worldbuilding lol)

Do yall know any fantastical/environmental alternatives to pregnancy (because I think pregnancy is stupid) but I can't think of any alternatives

message 41: by ♕King♛ (new)

♕King♛ | 63 comments I GOT ONE

THe earth gives ya one

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Constantine I thought about that but I don't think it makes sense for how my magic system interacts with earth (it's kinda connected but earth is like a friend/mother but it's magic is like...living) that didn't make much sense sorry lol

message 43: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Hmm maybe from the ocean
Or the drop hently from the sky lol

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Ruqqayah Ooh that's interesting
And for the sky one, one of my irl writing friends told me to make a baby storm (hers wasn't so gentle lol)

Haha

Or maybe they are like hidden gems- that could be quite symbolic

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Ruqayyah oo that’s such a cool idea. I think i have to do regular old pregnancy tho 🤢 cuz it’s like omg bodies are slay lol (in non nervous terms i’m basically celebrating bodies)

DoveyV | 311 comments K question for published authors on here: are y'all's (I hate the way it looks with an S lol) normal GR accounts and author accounts merged or separate? cuz like I can't find the answer anywhere in a way that makes sense. The reason I ask is because I have a penname and don't want both my accounts to have the same info in that area but wish for them to be connected. And what about my books, what happens with them? So to simplify it, do you get two separate dashboards of sorts?

message 49: by Ruqayyah (new)

I'll just pretend I'm published *grins*
Umm I see that authors separate them and have two accounts- so their author one is PrOfEsSiOnAL with NO rant reviews and only supportive reviews and a place where they can connect with their readers. So it's best to keep your Dovey one (lol) separate and as a tracker for your books,a s you do now and the wonderful Pen Name one separate and for professional writer-y stuff only

message 50: by Reagan (new)

Reagan | 34 comments I don't know if this is where I should put this or not, since it is a question, but not about something that I'm confused about and need the answer to. But anyways:

When you guys get published, who do you plan on dedicating the book to?
