DoveyV | 311 comments Do you set goals? Daily or weekly word count goals can be really helpful for some writers while just stressful for others. Share your personal goal (or goals cuz hey who said you could only have one) as well as any goal related tips here.

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Write daily, no matter how long for, to create an unbreakable habit

Jaedon D Kovacs | 120 comments My goal is to have my first draft of the book I’m currently writing completed before the new year (and to have it published before I turn 18). I’ve also made it a goal to write 1000 words a week, and I’d love to be in the habit of writing 100 words a day, which isn’t a lot but also makes the biggest difference. I want my word count to be about 60,000 words, but obviously I’ll see where the book goes.
Not really a goal but I also want to have chapter titles because that is a thing that needs to be brought back!

✰⋆·˚ ༘ lilly⋆˚ ༘ ✰ | 52 comments my goal is very long-term (😭) but id say its my most important one. id like to make a novel/ series that I'm proud of and that i put hard work into. hopefully from that I'll gain supporters and i can make good income from my books!

message 5: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Both of your ideas are great- titled chapters- yes! And be happy of your work is really important too!

message 6: by erin ♡ (new)

erin ♡ My goal for the moment is finishing at least one book plan. I keep on switching between like five and make little progress in each due to me just thinking of adding something to another story.

I hope you achieve that- just make sure to keep everything written down/typed up etc so you can always have your plans ahead of you and just work on what you're feeling for

message 8: by Allie (new)

Allie | 62 comments My goal is very lightweight but I still find it hard. I promise myself to write at least 600-1000 words a day. I have dedicated myself to one book and I've rewritten it 3 times already TT.

message 9: by DoveyV (new)

DoveyV | 311 comments lightweight? that’s an awesome goal. may ask why you’ve rewritten it three times?

message 10: by Allie (new)

Allie | 62 comments The first one I came up with without planning and the second one lacked the *vibe* I wanted.

DoveyV | 311 comments Alright I have a new goal. Finish my first draft for the first book in my duology and finish the plot for the second one before the new year

message 15: by Montague (new)

Montague | 14 comments My goal is to finish planning and start drafting

message 19: by Reagan (new)

Reagan | 34 comments I recently (as in yesterday) decided to make a goal of 500 words a day. If I needed to, I would settle for 300, but I hope I don't have to.

message 20: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Oo, that's great, now stick to it and watch your word count grow

Have you finished the first draft?

message 22: by Dreamer (new)

Dreamer | 16 comments I currently have set the goal to finish at least one of my books/stories before I start another one (and, ideally, before the end of January). I just have too many unfinished projects and it has started getting stressing cause I keep starting more XD

Same as my goal but I'm planning to finish two projects hopefully. It depends on whether procrastination is going to stop hounding me or not.

message 24: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Don't shy away from new ideas but I know it can get hard to manage, so don't fret if you don’t finish everything.
Just do what you feel like doing.

message 25: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Or have a schedule of which project you will do for a week or month etc
You could allocate a day per project for the week

Good luck at your goal! Let's hope we will both manage to finish our projects :)

message 27: by Dreamer (new)

Dreamer | 16 comments @Ruqayyah

I try to write down my new ideas as notes, and not actually start them, because if I do, I will 90% abandon my older projects for a long time..

Yeah makes sense- sometimes we do abandon stuff because we don't feel them anymore- so don't feel bad about it.

i will get a new idea, just abandon everything, hyperfix for a long time, get tired of it and repeat

message 31: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Ah don't worry about it, it's a process, we have to fail to suceed a lot of the time

message 32: by DoveyV (new)

DoveyV | 311 comments Well I have officially made it my new year goal to publish the first book in my historical fantasy duology this year (preferably December 12th since it’s my MCs birthday and that would be cool)

good luck to everyone on their goals whatever they may be!

Reagan | 34 comments My new goal now is to finish my first draft by the end of the school year. I'll have to write about 600 words a day if I the book has 60k words (which is what I'm hoping it will be around).
